For years I thought NIT stood for the NOT IN TOURNAMENT tournament. Honestly I have no idea what it stands for...because those teams aren’t in the tournament.
Back in the day, The National Invitational Tournament was THE tournament. Much more prestigious than the NCAA. Now, we are playing for 69th place - but at least we keep playing and keep practicing. Sort of like meaningless bowl season... Realistically though, we could probably beat half of the NCAA teams and maybe more if Nick could play but with all of the auto bids, won't get a chance to prove it. Totally our fault though. We caved at times and scheduled weak OOC games.

kind of like the bowl games for teams who don't make the top 4, and the other Sugar, Orange, Rose and Fiesta Bowl teams

Exactly. Roughly 30% of Basketball teams make it to the NCAA or NIT while over half of FBS teams get to a bowl.

Louisville wont be a problem; they voted against going and the AD vetoed them.

69 isn't a necessarily a bad position to be in... but IMO it isn't the best
