It’s really amazing how people do that.

I don’t get it. But then again I’ve never been one to follow the rules even when I should have

You think the bar owners really care about moral issues if they did they would be selling booze to college kids. You are funny. That's like saying a drug dealer is worried about people being addicted to crack that he sold them.

lets tone it down a notch... little too much hyperbole going on. We should be thankful for the new day and that the city was spared. Emotions were high put this in the past. either you eat there or you don't. All of you should start going to starkville spending money all over town or if you support the business spend a bunch of money there. Starkville will gladly accept your money so come and rejoice that it is still the greatest town in the world.

You really think people/businesses can only be sued if a law is broken? LMAO

If you had read my posts, then you would know the answer to that.

You're the one who brought up laws for bars letting people in during storms not me.Then asked me to name them.

Why would you even bring it up?

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a microcosm of why Starkville, with a campus of 25,000 18-22 year olds, sucks. The business owners and town do not care about the students - some are even blatantly anti-student.

Been like that for 50 years.

that basement is hiding something. Needs to be investigated.

This is just plain stupid. Life comes over anything else on this earth, other than the afterlife. The owners were evidently planning on aiding other towards the latter. Dang!

That's crazy. I'm near UT campus right now and we're having insane wind gusts. I almost got knocked down by two of them about an hour ago. I can't imagine sending drunk students/patrons into a freaking tornado.

A reasonable approach.

It is baffling why people were turned out during a tornado warning, but perspective is important.

Starkville is changing for the better. But it's incidents like ln that show how far away it truly is

I'm not sure it's a Starkville thing so much as a certain people are jackasses without a lick of common sense or decency. You don't send people out in a dangerous storm - even just a really bad thunder storm. You wait until it's safe to leave even if it inconveniences you.

In other cases, a lot of people will let rules/policies (as another poster mentioned) do their thinking for them but those rules and policies are never meant to override the safety of another human being. But for those who are law and order/the rules are the rules types, they can't/won't think past the rules even though it's common sense that in a life threatening situation those rules don't mean shite and can and should be broken.

People with common sense do not go to bar knowing there is a chance of a tornado. Sounds like a bunch of folks with mental issues going to a bar over the safety from bad storms.

While this is true it does not excuse the fact that the establishment responded poorly. They let the students in knowing there was a chance of a tornado and they should respond accordingly. Just because some college kids mad a bad decision to go bar hopping doesn't mean the bar should risk their lives by kicking them out into a tornado.

You are not very smart.

I have never been in that situation. In the mid 90s we had tickets to a concert at the Atlanta amphitheatre . That night bad weather was coming. We did not go they cut the show short bad weather and power going out and high winds took place. A mild panic took place with people running and getting blown around in the dark. Was it the venues fault or did I make right decision in staying at the hotel.

You still don't get it.

The venue is responsible for the patrons regardless of whether the patrons made a bad decision by being there. The reason the concert was cut short was to force the people to get to safety before it got worse and people got hurt. The major difference being an amphitheater is OUTSIDE. If they had let the show go on and someone got hurt they would have been liable.

The same way if anyone the bar kicked out was hurt, they would be liable.

It's really not that hard, dude. Try using reason.

All your examples involved actual damage, this is not the case here.

Maybe they didn't have valid insurance on the place.
