It's hard to see Mike Leach's style getting a whole lot more effective. Rush 3 and drop 8 in a zone and Leach just can't run the football.

We ran for 115 yards yesterday....

Will begin to pull better talent due to it at the WR, QB, and RB...

MS ST is extremely young.

Should have been for 150 yards. The RBs are not seeing everything that's there. Won't make a decision quickly.

#7 more so than 23. When 7 just hits the hole, he moves! too many times, he is just looking to see which hole to hit.

100%. Anyone that thinks the offense won’t work with a QB that properly can go through his progressions clearly isn’t paying attention.

Leach has never played 3-8s with the amount of talent that he sees weekly in the SEC. And it shows.

Those little spaces that were available in the B12 and the P12 don't exist in this league unless you manipulate defenders into making false steps. Nothing in the Leach offense does that.

They're a yearly 5-7 to 7-5 program with him. I dunno if that's acceptable or not but it's the way it is.

Leach has a history of taking less and doing more. He walked into Auburn with one of the worst teams he has ever had and it took the officials to save Auburn... at Auburn.

MS ST is not WSU. They also play in the SEC and have SEC Talent.

They do and did all last year and so far this year. They lost by 7 to UGA at UGA.. yeah.. that defense. with 44 players too.

The spaces are there. And when the QB starts seeing it, you will be the first to admit it.

K, sounds great

Leach is what he is. His offense is what it is, and hasn't changed in 10+ years. He'll win a few wild ones, lose a few weird ones and lose most every game they play against top 10 level teams like he did at Texas Tech and Wazzu.

He's lost less than 4 games 3 times in 20 seasons and he's now in the toughest and deepest division in college football history. He'll go 6-6/7-5 most of the time. And that may be fine, I dunno, but expecting more than that is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Really, State out gained LSU by 150 yards, doubled them in FD’s, TOP was 36:00-24:00, Ran 88 plays to 51, a missed FG was the difference in the game.

LSU had no sustained drives. Three big plays for TD’s and the other was off a TO.

Credit to LSU for winning the game but in no way did they dominate yesterday’s game.

is that really a meaningful measuring stick? They might have rushed for 115 but LSU was ready to give up 2 to 3 times that with that front.

2000 Texas Tech 7–6
2001 Texas Tech 7–5
2002 Texas Tech 9–5
2003 Texas Tech 8–5
2004 Texas Tech 8–4
2005 Texas Tech 9–3
2006 Texas Tech 8–5
2007 Texas Tech 9–4
2008 Texas Tech 11–2
2009 Texas Tech 8–4

That's with way worse talent than everybody. I only see 2 7 win seasons, and zero 6 win seasons.

2012 Washington State 3–9
2013 Washington State 6–7
2014 Washington State 3–9

2015 Washington State 9–4
2016 Washington State 8–5
2017 Washington State 9–4
2018 Washington State 11–2
2019 Washington State 6–7

Again... doing way more with WAY less.

None of those are MSU who consistently has an above average to great defense.

MSU did not just happen into WRs. He trains them. He's never had this many 4 stars on a team he has coached. Never. And they are all young.

Sawyer Robinson is MSU's highest rated QB ever. He went to State to play for Leach. The kid threw for over 12,000 yards in HS.

The argument of Leach has never faced SEC talent is one of complete ignorance. Leach himself now has SEC talent.

People will hate on this thread but you are a fool to dismiss a Leach coached team at any point in a season. Remember when Wash St. lost to an FCS team week 1? Then they went on to win 10 games.

He will surprise and beat a couple of teams we don't expect him to.

State's talent relative to the reet of their division is basically the same as TT relative to the BXII South or Wazzu relative to the P12 North that he was in at the time.

I'm sorry, are you arguing that his style of offense faced similar defensive talent in the P12 North or B12 South? That's absurd.

quote:

Leach himself now has SEC talent.

Oh yea? Well then he probably needs to figure out how to use it against these defenses he supposedly has more weapons to fight. Because their offensive output has been awful for 1.5 years now.

No you didn't. It took MSU to help you win. The FG kicker injured and missed the FG. Carelessness on the part of a Wr, and the busted play by a back up...

They held you to 63 yards rushing and to 280 in passing.

vs

371 passing and 115 rushing.
