Knoxville is a great town. Spent 7 years there and loved it.

I was born in Knoxville.

Tennessee is a beautiful state. If they could purge Memphis it'd be hard to find a better state to live in.

My problem with Knoxville and UT is that it has all the elements to have a beautiful, pastoral, bucolic campus setting...

But instead it is kind of a tight, urbanish, concrete kind of campus wedged between downtown, the river and the interstate.

The pics really show how much they've worked on it... but there is only so much they can do.

Say what you want about Baton Rouge and LSU or A&M... but they have a lot of green space and breathing room there.

I like Knoxville to be honest. Other than the exterior of the stadium which looks like pickled dog shite

Is Knoxville considered in the mountains or is it a foothill town? never been.

Neither really. The back drop off in the distance there are mountains which makes Knoxville a nice place to live. Easy drive to the mountains.

To big of a city to be considered a college town in my opinion. Added value to the city to have the campus there for other things to do.

The interstate system grants it easy access to other states and major cities.

Our campus isn’t awful. You can make your jokes about the city of Starkville but we are an ag school and keep campus looking nice.

The one building I consider a huge eyesore is dorman hall. Needs to be demolished

I would have agreed with you in 2008. Campus and Cumberland Avenue look good now.

State's campus is pretty nice. I liked it, at least.

When I lived in Bryan back in the day I noticed a lot of right angles on the A&M campus. Blandness everywhere.

Yea most people just think “oh I’ve always heard Starkville is a shite hole so surely their campus is too”

The city has improved tremendously over the last decade plus but the campus has always been nice.

Actually, the ugliest college town may be Lubbock, TX.

That's a common symptom of universities that grew dramatically after WW2.

Lubbock is gross. Stillwater, Oklahoma is another bad one. The Big 12 has a generous showcase of shithole college towns.

Nice try, a-hole, but but there are no seats in the season ticket rotation up there.

You can even see in the pic that seats start at the rail.
