That loss wasn't shocking.

The way it ended was shocking.

But the loss itself wasn't shocking at all. Auburn was #4 in the country and playing before a home crowd. That's a recipe for Bama heartbreak.

Yeah anyone saying the 2013 Iron Bowl was a shocking upset is a moron. TAMU beating us in 2021 was probably the most shocking upset of the 2008+ Saban era with the 2010 loss to USCe being a close second.

EDIT: Hell now that I think about it, Ole Miss 2015 was maybe the most shocking given the circumstances

2002 UGA. UF was an up-and-down mess under first year coach Ron Zook. UGA was undefeated and looking for an SEC+national title.

Breaking Spurrier's 25 game winning streak in 1997 was awesome.

This is hands down the biggest upset I've witnessed as an LSU fan.

2009 at Georgia Tech.

Second-worst Georgia team of the last 25 years beat the best Georgia Tech team of the last 25 years in their place one year after Tech had beaten us in Athens and everyone thought Johnson’s triple-option was unstoppable. Tech was 10-1, ranked #7 and on their way to the ACC title and an Orange Bowl appearance. UGA was 6-5 and had just lost at home to Kentucky.

Dawgs had 339 yards rushing. Caleb King and Washaun Ealey played like Chubb and Michel that night.

2007 Auburn vs. Florida. Auburn lost to Mississippi State and USF in previous weeks, then goes to the Swamp and beats #4 in the country on the road as a 20 point underdog.

I actually expected us to win that one or keep it very close. We were good in 2007, just had a young O-line and they were improving FAST the first month of the season. If you remember, we should have beat LSU in Baton Rouge the next week and LSU went on to win the Natty.

2002 Iron Bowl is another honorable mention.

This one surprised me.

Biggest though was Florida in 2001. They were ranked #1, we were a 29.5 point dog.

How did they play like two dudes who hadn't played yet?

Losing to Clemson in 2018 wasn't a 'shock' but good God the way we lost that game was. I cannot remember losing a game by so much in my conscious lifetime (which includes Shula and most of Dubose)

LSU over Alabama in 1993 17-13 - when Alabama had that 30-something game winning streak going

oh. I forgot about the 97 upset of UF in Tiger Stadium. Its a toss up between those two games.

I'll go with the 2014 Sugar Bowl. I felt we were going to get beat by at least 2 TDs. Then Trevor Knight goes and has an out of body experience and we get the W.

Texas beating OU in 2015.

Texas was 1-4 (finished 5-7) and OU was undefeated (finished 11-1 and went to the playoff)

That was probably the worst Texas team I've watched since I've followed them the past 22 years. Made no sense how Texas trotted out a bunch of freshmen and beat a very good Sooners team

I went to that game

But I remember Texas getting dickslapped by TCU the week before in Fort Worth too. That made that game more impressive

Maybe Florida shoe game or beating the brakes off 2018 UGA. LSU hasn’t really been big underdogs much since I remember watching. I was alive but very young for 1997 Florida game.

Florida OSU BCS NC

I actually thought UF could beat them with their defense but I did not predict an absolute arse kicking. Held OSU to only 82 yards total offense. Also, Leak played his best game that night too.

2000 SC over #5/#7 UGA in Columbia. (-24)

SC won 21-10.

We had just ended a 21 game losing streak by beating NMSU the week before. It was Holtz's second year. Ended up being the biggest turnaround (8 games) in NCAA history.

SC Soph tackle Dennis Quinn (a DT mind you) had three interceptions against Carter/UGA that day just by standing-up and dropping back into coverage while we sent our LBs.

Derek Watson, Andrew Pinnock and Ryan Brewer were all soph RBs.

There were 14 future NFLers on that SC roster and two or three pro bowlers if I remember correctly ... 2 in the secondary alone.

UGA was loaded with Quincy Carter (probably the fav to win the Heisman at the time) and a shitton of future NFL guys.

That was my worst loss.

Scar hadn't won a game in the prior season.

Quincy wasn't a frontrunner for the Heisman. But he was supposed to be the best QB in the conference.

5 punts (instead of 5 INTs) and we win.

It was crushing.

My freshman year, 1989.

Andre aware was at the University of Houston and he was putting up Tecmo Bowl numbers while on the way to win the Heisman.

RC Slocum blitzed the ever living out of Ware and it completely disrupted the UH offense.

That was a very surprising victory. Thy also lost to Arky that year but I think their victories were averaging maybe 50-60 points a game.

Jack Pardee was a hell of a coach.
