Jordan Jefferson and Jarret Lee had a nice game against them too

2012 Auburn is worse, but our 2014 team was really overrated. Started off #9 and picked to win the East, finished 7-6. At least we won the Duck Commander Bowl.

Can't remember the season, but I 'member the polls having one of the east teams actually ranked 1st in the country late in the season until they got stomped by 3+ TDs by a 4 loss team.

I remember that year! I think that team came back and finished #2 in the country. Seems they avenged that loss by hanging one of those 4 losses on the west team by 3TD's.

Is that the year you were thinking of?

2017 Bama. Backdoored their way into the playoffs and only beat 2 quality teams.

So much wrong with this statement.

1) job of committee is to put 4 best teams in playoffs. They did that. The fact that Bama didn't win division or conference being your argument:

A) means you ignore that OSU did same thing on way to playoffs last year and

B) assumes you think all divisions and all conferences are equal (note: SEC East champ, ACC Atlantic, ACC Costal, Big 12, Big Ten East, and Pac South all had same number of conference losses as Bama did.)

2) Only 2 quality teams? the #1 and #3 team in the country are more than "quality". Bama beat 9 teams with winning records including the LSU team that gave your Tigers a loss. They also beat FSU when that team was at full strength (imagine where this 4 loss AU team finishes the year if Stidham got hurt in week one and missed rest of season...that was FSU in 2017)

But hey, you guys got that SEC West Championship and signed your sweater vest to a $50M contract, so congrats on 2017.

Man I'm telling you. Even alabama fans knew that game was going to be tough out. We could feel that loss coming. You had the QB to do it and we knew you had a championship level defense. We had a QB who wasn't good at passing. Plus y'all return d your entire OL from previous year or at least I thought y'all had.

They underachieved, yes, but overrated? not sure that's the proper adjective.

Aren't those one in the same for the most part. Alabama was #1 in the preseason polls in 2010 and proceeded to lose 3 games and finished the season ranked right at #10 and 4th in the SEC West. It's not a laughably overrated team or even close to the most overrated team in the last 10 years, but they were definitely overrated.

Our defense was bend but don't break and your QB threw for 300 yds in the 1st half vs Auburn. Our 2010 team was senior led with the best CFB QB on Earth at the time

Damn, I'm really rustled that 7 years ago our worst team in a decade went 10-3.

So, basically the same season that got Gus a raise and extension.

2017 bammer- couldn't even win their own division of the SEC

Not sure if you realize, Alabama was co-champs for the SEC West..... both Alabama and Auburn finished with 1 loss, Auburn won the tie breaker, and went to Atlanta.

But Alabama did win its division.....

Not that Alabama celebrates that kind of thing.....

You realize
I also realize 2017 Tennessee finished 4-8, not 3-9, including a win over the ACC's Georgia Tech in OT. 2012 Auburn beat Monroe in OT and had no P5 wins.

2017 Tennessee was shut out once in SEC play 41-0, while 2012 Auburn was shut out in both of its final two SEC games, 0-38 & 0-49.

2017 Tennessee not as bad/over-rated as 2012 Auburn.

Here are some highly ranked preseason SEC teams that finished un-ranked:

2008 LSU was preseason #7 and finished 8-5
2013 Florida was preseason #10 and finished 4-8
2008 Auburn was preseason #11 and finished 5-7
2015 Auburn was preseason #6 and finished 7-6
2016 Ole Miss was preseason #11 and finished 5-7
2012 Arkansas was preseason #10 and finished 4-8
2013 Georgia was preseason #5 and finished 8-5
2014 South Carolina was preseason #9 and finished 7-6

I would pick between 2008 LSU, 2013 Florida, and 2013 Georgia considering their talent levels.

2016 LSU Tigers were supposed to compete for a national title.

Instead, they lost the opener to a far less talented Wisconsin team and got their HC fired 3 games later.

A team that was supposed to be at least in the top 10 from a talent stand point found a way to lose 4 games.

I think you're actually thinking of 2012 Florida. Man oh man, that was the picture of overrated and that was a broken team after Jarvis Jones for Georgia just destroyed them.

2015 Florida without Will Grier was overrated as well.
