Kick 6- kept Bama from a 3 peat. This will always be number one.

Bo over the top- will always say he didn't score. Even Pat Dye would smile when asked about it.

LSU losing to Auburn in 2016.

Several in the history of Auburn LSU games.

‘88 earthquake game
‘94 interception game,
2004 crazy 4th down conversion and 2 attempts at extra point to win by 1
2005 Auburn misses 5 field goals to lose in OT
2006 last play LSU is tackled at the 5 yard line
2007 - last 2nd TD by LSU
2010 - late 4th quarter TD by Auburn
2016 - out of time
2017 - LSU comeback in the 4th
2018 - another comeback and LSU wins on a Field Goal at the end.

I was at this one. Remember being very confused and not knowing what was going on but the players all ran out onto the field celebrating. That was certainly odd.

ETA
If I remember correctly I watched replay of the post game press conference that night and miles was saying he didn’t know why the QB spiked it that no one told him to. As he said that they cut to a video of him giving the signal to spike it right before.

Auburn - because I'm old - Van Tiffen "It's a 52 yard kick into the breeze... it's up... it's gooood!!!"

The brutal play in that game was the one immediately before, when somehow Greg Richardson got out of bounds at the AU 35. He gets called down there, the game is over.

But that game was pretty inconsequential except for bragging rights. For my money, though, the most devastating SEC play will always be this.

Cost Dye's best ever AU team their best shot at an undefeated season and an NC

But that season was already tainted by the loss to Wisconsin and this game and that clock management was the nail in Miles' coffin, so I don't think it qualifies as devastating.

Ironically, if he had gotten the play off in time, Miles would probably have survived and Gustav would've been canned the next day.

Like the man says, life is funny.

God, so many.

Working backwards chronologically:

2017 NCG 2nd and 26

2016 Tennessee Hail Mary

2013 Prayer at Jordan-Hare

2012 SECCG Conley falling down in bounds as the clock ran out against Bama

2003 LSU ending

God bless these back-to-back natties for making all that pain worth it

I hope this is sarcasm.

I’m convinced there was some bad Richt mojo still floating around at that point. That one hurt bad.

There were only seconds left when that play happened. Ref makes the right call and Florida has to go for it on 4th down, or kick a field goal that only ties the game.

The Gaffney catch was on second down. Plus there was enough time for them to try to score a touchdown before having to settle for a field goal.

The swindle in the swamp is easily my #1. Maybe the worst officiated game I have ever had a rooting interest in.

Shoe throw.

Stinkin Riley vs GA in Rose bowl playoffs. Right before half and up 17 points with all the momentum. And Stinkin decides to squib kick knowing GA has a great kicker. Sure enough they kick a FG that at end of reg was a tie game. Then in OT2 he decides to attempt to kick a FG on 4th-1 and made another gutless call. He had Baker fricking Mayfield and chooses a FG try. fricker cost us a natty we beat Bama if we move on.

Squib Kick LINK FU Stinkin

Stinkin has lost 6 games after holding 14+ point leads, that is the most in the country since he started coaching in 2017. So basically half the games he's lost (6 of 13) have occurred after giving up a 14 point lead.

frick you Stinkin!

Just to name a few for State that I witnessed in person:

2009 LSU: State has 1st and goal at the 2, down by 6, with about 1:30 left. Two run plays up the middle didn’t score. 3rd down, State calls a play action pass to the tight end that dekes everyone in the stadium except for Chad Jones, who made a great play to swat it down. (Jones also had a crazy 90 yard punt return TD earlier). On 4th down, State calls an option play and instead of pitching it to Dixon for a walk in TD, our 5’8” QB keeps it up the middle and gets stuffed. Turnover on downs. Would have been our first win against LSU in a decade, and we didn’t beat them for another 5 years.

2010 Auburn: down by 3 in the final minute, Leon Berry drops a long pass inside the Auburn 15 that would’ve at worst had State in chip shot field goal range to tie, and likely multiple chances to get the winning TD. Instead it’s an incomplete pass and State ends up turning over on downs around midfield. Cost us a win against the eventual champs.

2010 Arkansas: probably the best game I have ever seen in person. State ties it on a last second field goal to force OT. First possession, Vick Ballard makes a great effort run and dives toward the end zone. In mid air, an Arkansas player’s helmet hits the ball and it takes a crazy bounce out of the end zone for a touchback. Arkansas went on to win in double OT. Firmly believe State wins if Ballard scores or just goes down inside the 5 there.

2017 Alabama: Tie game in the final minute, Bama has a 3rd and 15 in their own territory. Todd Grantham calls an all out blitz but Bama called a timeout right before the snap. Out of the timeout, Grantham calls the same exact all out blitz. Bama detects it easily, Hurts completes a long pass to Ridley to convert, and the very next play hits a pass to Smith for the TD. This was far and away the closest State has come to beating Bama since Saban’s first year when he lost to Sylvester Croom.
