From Bryan Burwell, St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Franklin admits being scared:

Quarterback James Franklin even admitted so much after the game, saying he either pulled up, ducked or threw the ball away too quickly because after a while he just expected a Carolina defender to knock him into next week.

Players voicing frustration with coaching staff:

"That game, it just doesn't make any sense," said senior receiver T.J. Moe. "It's not like we were dropping balls all over the place, not like we were tripping and falling and not making throws. We just didn't do anything to help ourselves win. There was never a point in the game where I felt like we were doing something on offense to get going. I've never been in a game like that. Never."

Poignant Bryan Burwell insights:

what happened to Mizzou on its maiden road trip deep into the heart of the SEC was a blunt warning of what can happen on any given football Saturday when you decide to play a listless, mistake-ridden, self-destructive brand of football.

offensively, it just felt like the Mizzou offense was flinching all afternoon, expecting a knockout punch to land square on its jaw even when half the time what players were feeling was actually nothing more damaging than a stiff breeze.

The Georgia game gave you hope. This game gave you acid reflux. This game made you wonder where this season is headed, and if you want to be around when it gets there. When you consider that No. 1 Alabama is still waiting for Mizzou next month, three more conference road games are on the horizon, and this young, beaten-up offensive line has to face a never-ending chorus line of SEC defenses that feature four or five future NFL studs every weekend, I wonder when or if any relief is in sight.

You were warned fwiw. The toughest thing about this conference is going week to week.

Kilo is still on the Franklin wagon because he is a 2 year starter (oooops, messed that one up didn't you Kilo). He is a one year starter plus 2 games.

His other reason is Berkstresser is only a redshirt freshman (ooops, Oregon and Tamu are doing just fine with freshman qbs, along with many other programs who have used freshman.)

Overall though, a qb change would only make my ego happy. I'm not sure it will help the outcome of the game because the o-line is still garbage. And Yost is just terrible. But that doesn't mean the change shouldn't be made.

Its funny watching Franklin unravel. The guy has NONE of the intangibles of a qb. It is mind blowing that a guy who ran over the entire Tamu defense last year has no desire, no intuition, no charisma, no awareness in his playing. This was noted by fans of all other SEC teams that watched this weekends game.

Franklins time is ticking, that is for sure.

Holy hell. I love guys like you. We told ourselves that too, thanks though.

We all knew the 'grind' of the SEC.

Which is why a lot of us were losing our minds when we lost 4 of our top 8 o-linemen in the pre-season. And lost our best linemen against Georgia.

Your coach and player representatives at SEC media days sure were confident.

"Y'all act like we have been playing a bunch of high school teams."

"I've heard that in the SEC the speed is faster, the stadiums are bigger, and the girls are prettier." Followed by a chuckle.

We've always tried to tell you that teams like Baylor and Oklahoma St don't play any defense. Now y'all are starting to get the picture.

I hate to afford you any attention, MoGray, but I agree with you.

I'm fricking tired of this nonsense. We're a better team than this. We have stubborn coaches who refuse to adapt, and we'll lose because of it.

We've been telling people for years that even the bottom SEC teams are good. Now you see why going undefeated in our conference is a big deal.

Its killing me to see humans de evolve so badly.

None of those statements mean we didn't know a grind was coming.

We knocked of #1 ranked team recently, we've been ranked #1 in the nation. We didn't come from nothing.. so there should be some confidence.

Were they supposed to say "we're scared"? get real.

And what is that about defense? Our defense is stout. Its not there fault the offense is doing nothing. UGA scored 2 Tds that required only 6 yards. USC was getting the ball all game inside our territory to start the drive. I love how some fans think they know what they are talking about, yet have no clue. Bravo.

Its the WRONG year for us to lose half of our 0-line before the season starts, then lose our best 0-linemen in the first conference game. That wasn't expected either when all this confidence was beaming.

Pinkel was the number one proponent of Mizzou switching to the SEC. When he refuses to consider going with our backup QB (essentially, refusing to win) I wonder if he's considering the additional millions of dollars that our donors are pumping into the school? Doesn't he understand that they now sort of have a say in his future if he refuses to win? I mean, they aren't donating millions to the school for our football team to lose. Like most of our fans, they too have high aspirations for Mizzou football...and Pinkel seems to be giving everyone the middle finger by stating that James is the QB, period, and Yost is a brilliant OC.

Yeah it is a shame bc we really are better than this, but it doesn't mean anything to anyone. And really, it shouldn't until we prove things with wins.

Its so frustrating that we have so many of the parts needed to be good, yet none of it is allowed to develop because of the bad 0-line combined with horrible play calling. And now we are becoming known as a bad football team.

For shite's sake, our starting QB stated after the game that he was scared to be "knocked into next week". He admitted to being scared.

And Pinkel then goes on record and tells the media that James Franklin is his man. Period. Debate closed.

Once again, refusal to adjust to the SEC. Refusal to win.

Whether intentional or not, everyone in SEC county notice the jabs being thrown at the SEC's direction. Pinkel was sick of hearing about SEC defenses cause he thought Mizzou has played good teams in the past. But maybe now he's learning that we don't get in many 44-41 shootouts in our league because teams try to take care of the ball on keep their own defense rested.

No, but you don't mock the league by saying that we hear everything is in the SEC is better, and then chuckle at it.

Phyiscal games cause injuries. LSU has lost its starting left tackle, starting running back, All-American cornerback, and another starting linebacker all in the first 4 weeks (the last two were off of the field issues). Injuries happen, and good teams have depth.

True. Arkansas has a team of good players. But they appear to be the shittiest most disappointing, embarrassing team in college football. We know their players are good, but perception is everything.

Mizzou is very close to joining the loser club. Arkansas is knocking on our door to remind us to pay our club dues...

He didn't really need to come out and say it. After he got hit a few times you could tell he was scared shitless.

the fact that any of you thought Franklin was anything but mediocre, is a testament to the fact that your team and fanbase had a lot to learn. Your coaches may be facing reality and hopefully will hit the recruiting trail for defensive players worthy of SEC play. And without a serviceable QB, you got no shot. Give the backup the rest of the snaps and bear this season.

I don't understand this. He really looked like someone who would improve by leaps and bounds during the offseason. I know he was injured, but man he has regressed big time. I'm ready to see Berkstresser, but if we go with him we need to stay wih him. None of this switching qb shite during the game.

As far as Yost goes, frick that guy, I'm through with his arse. I was over his cutsie bull shite two years ago.
