Rumor (or maybe truth, I don't know) is that there is a wing or room or something in that hospital that is closed off to this day.

The whole hospital is closed. It was the Alexian Brothers hospital. South City.

Skidmore Mizzouri is a creepy place. Lots of messed up history for such a small town.

We aren't a good fit anywhere, never have been. Big 10 people look down on us because we were a "slave state" during the civil war. South looks down at us because we were "Yankees." You could read a book about it, or watch Josey Wales for the Cliff Notes version.

Our big cities were Union towns during the Civil War, at least St. Louis was, full of one book I read described as "Lincoln-loving Germans." We had a lot of southerners settle our rural areas in the southern half especially, but not exclusively, supporting the South. You can still see rebel flags in parts of Missouri.

Yes, it is true we don't neatly fit anywhere. I grew up in St. Louis and my wife and I looked at an Antebellum era house in Alton, Illinois that was for sale and the person showing the house said we were from Missouri (after we told them), which was a slave state, and part of the south, and this house was in a free state, and had tunnells in the basement made to help get freed or escaped black slaves settled in the North. That was just like 30 years ago.

I've liked the state ever since they went red several elections ago- i think it was the Bush/Gore. Mizzou was always a close battleground state for Pres and Senators, and then it started being reliable red.

We didn't show them, but they showed us. Hell yeah!

I saw the one on AMC and read two books. Pretty interesting. Drove through once, thinking I may look around, but as soon as I got into town, a car load of meth heads got in behind me and followed me out of town.

If you love the outdoors MO is awesome! Hunting, fishing, camping, lakes, a lot of caves to explore. Swamps in the SE, corn field in the north, the Ozarks in the SW.

You get all four seasons, lots of history like Mark Twain, Jesse James, and route 66.

In the middle of the state the people are strange especially in Jefferson City and in the SE they are red as redneck can get.

As someone mentioned earlier... In the entire state of Missouri... plantation culture flourished most strongly along the Missouri River in "Little Dixie"...

One of the larger ironies of the war is that Columbia... home to the University was strongly pro Union... yet Boone County itself was one of the largest slave holding counties in the entire state. Columbia was surrounded by hostile confederates and the Missouri Tigers were the Union home guard.

Which of course makes me want to ask all the political doofuses on the board... What does that particular situation label COMO and the University of Missouri? .. liberal... or conservative.

You have male cheerleaders, an empty pre emptive championship trophy case for a coach you fired (and still owed him a buyout greater than the GDP of Tuvalu) , and less BCS wins than us.

At least you have internet clout with missourians, your new “permanent rival”. Both of you can enjoy your mid to late season slide after delusional expectations, dingus.

And Kansas City sucks arse. I gladly live closer to the Rockies.
