Why? Missouri isn't even in the SEC.

I don't want Missouri to drop baseball -- scheduling for a 15 team league means someone has an open weekend, which sucks.
I get the pro baseball excuse, but do the folks in Columbia not have any civic pride? Surely, if they get a decent facility, they can draw better than what they have to date.

Everyone that plays them gets an open weekend anyways. Watching us play last weekend was brutal, honestly

We are an SEC outlier when it comes to baseball, there is no denying it. If our school decides to GAF about the sport, we'll see changes soon, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

It is pretty embarrassing. Mizzou is probably never going to be a baseball juggernaut with two MLB franchises bookending Columbia, but this degree of lack of investment in the baseball program is inexcusable. I think there is a baseline expectation as an SEC program to at least make some effort to be competitive. And that should start with forking out some cash to hire a better coach, and then improving the stadium. And this is coming from someone who really doesn't care about college baseball.
The funny thing is is Vitello wanted the job when it came open and he was still an assistant at Arkansas. Missouri didn't want to hire him, an alum,, Tennessee did, and the rest is history.

Yep, not a shining star in our AD's decision-making, that's for sure.

That’s because the state of LA doesn’t have an MLB team.

And when did the Dodgers and Giants move to CA ? I’ll wait.

The UCLA and USC programs predate not only the arrival of MLB, but pro sports as a whole. That’s not the case with the state of MO which has been involved at the pro level since the end of the Civil War. It was the westernmost and southernmost state in the pros before expansion from the late 40’s to the early 70’s.
Hope that helps.

Everyone else in the SEC does. You are in the wrong conference bud. Y’all need to go somewhere else with that attitude.

I agree. Wasted money on a who gives AS college sport

Technically, Missouri is an SEC outlier in athletics, period. Only 2 national championships in the entire history of the athletics program. Those happened in 1954 and 1965.
The only athletic program with less, is Mississippi State.

That’s pretty ugly.. but this years team is way way way worse than that.. no chance they win more than a game or two.. and they might get blanked..
The MLB argument is stupid.

How about UGA. Pretty near the Atlanta Braves. Both teams pretty good
Let's see those gymnastics!
