When did this supposedly happen?
These kinda things are exciting for garbage pail programs.
They have neat wins and close-program-building losses to celebrate.

As a Mizzou fan this is false, Kentucky ran it before us and can probably claim Florida before us too.

I think that honor belongs to Tony Franklin in 2008 at Auburn, he failed miserably and was videoed carrying his books out of the facilities after being fired a couple games into the season.

Franklin was a Hal Mumme protege

Relating to spread/hurry offenses, Gus was the one that forced consequential change. The spread had been around for a long time but Gus, being the tricky tac bitch that he was took advantage by running designed plays to his side of the field/sideline, would sub receivers almost instantly while running the next play fast as possible.
There was a reason why after 4 plays receivers would be open by miles in his offense. He forced cornerbacks to sprint non stop for 600 yards and would sub in rested guys who would blow right by them.
He did it in highschool for years blowing away powerhouse high schools by 80 points and nobody could figure out what was going on.
He is the reason why the rule was changed so that if you subbed players they would pause the game allowing the defense to sub. Once they made that rule change he neutralized Gus… and now he is back to coaching at a high school level of ball.

check out gator highlights when the ole ball coach was there. He dominated the SEC wth that offense and a damn strong defense too. mizzou got nothing on spurrier.
His DC for 3 years did a number on Mizzou, and most of the Big 12 for many years. Thank you for 2007.

Umm... Hal Mumme was running the spread at UK in 1997. I'm not even sure he was first in the conference.

His offense was more pro style. Then again the guy just loves scheming up some shite and calling his plays. Whatever advantage he felt he had, he was going to exploit it in the best ways possible.

Mizzou close games were three score loses
