Although FL wasn't much in basketball until Donovan arrived, winning back to back championships puts Mizzou back quite a distance away. I agree with you.

Florida football wasn't much before Spurrier, either. Florida's population blowing up has as much to do with the rise of its sports programs as any individual coach.

Yeah, I forgot about Kruger being there. Did he get them to a Final 4? I liked Kruger alot from the old Big 8 days, but he is a vagabond.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Florida one bit. Highly impressive to pull off championships in the 2 big sports.

Where does Missouri rank as a job for an incoming coach.

schools
Kentucky = Elite School + History + Rupp + Fans

schools
Florida = Historically not good but last 20 years have been good
Arkansas = Historically good school + Banner + Bud Walton + Fans
Tennessee = TB Arena + 1 E8 + 7 S16 + WBB history is elite + Fans

schools
Alabama = 1 E8 + 8 S16 + Wimp + decent fans for non elite sport
LSU = 4 F4 + 6 E8 + 9 S16 + PMAC + decent fans (higher if more consistent)
Dores = Memorial Magic + Nashville + 1 E8 + 6 S16
(with right hire they could be Dook vs UNC version in SEC => Dores vs UK)

schools (underachievers)
SC = Colonial is newer and seats 18,000 + WBB is growing + Potential
(recruiting into Tobacco Road and east coast corridor is hidden asset)
Mizzou = 15K seating + 5 E8 + 7 S16 + Columbia is like Athens Lite
(would be higher except no Final Fours and poor fans when not winning)
TAMU = I know Texas is football but only 4 S16 and 0 E8 is pitiful
(step up your game guys as at least your women have a Natty!)

schools (basketball is not a priority)
State = 1 F4 (Congrats) + 1 E8 + 3 S16
UGA = 1 F4 (Congrats) + 1 E8 + 2 S16
Auburn = 1 E8 + 4 S16 (Sir Charles is awesome but you need more)
Rebs = 1 S16 (Hopefully a new Tad Pad will bring better results)

Super schocked that Gritz downgrades Mizzou. Totally unpredictable.

The rant is weird.

A Kentucky fan and a South Carolina fan arguing over whether Mizzou or Vandy is a better coaching destination

Not really, Vandy is the better of the 2 based on SEC.

Now if Mizzou had been in the SEC all along I might agree with you but the historic triad is UK vs UT vs VU in terms of fan travel and general interest. If you don't agree with this use the scalper metric in Rupp.

Tennessee will command a premium in Rupp even when they suck
Vanderbilt will command a premium in Rupp even when they suck
Mizzou is a discount in Rupp when they suck

Yes. That's how you rank a job. What the ticket prices are at Rupp.

Did not downgrade, just saying they have not cut the mustard in BASKETBALL in the SEC. If you can not handle the truth, then perhaps this image will refresh your memory of the fickle nature of Mizzou basketball fans.

I am pretty hard pressed to remember such poor attendance at a Tennessee or Vanderbilt game. Hell, Bama has better support for basketball and they are THE football school.

Yes, because a game in Rupp is a good barometer of the value of a coach. I know you may not believe this but with over a half century of UK games under my belt it is a strong observation that how much folks pay is an indication of the coaching job of the opponent.

This year KU played in Rupp and the numbers were off the charts but when Mizzou plays you are lucky to get the same value for a lower seat as one of the early season patsies. I have seen scalpers selling well below face for Mizzou games in Rupp.

If it helps think of the 3 primary revenue streams that pay salaries
1 TV revenue = Mizzou is not a TV darling in basketball
2 Ticket sales = Mizzou is not filling the place
3 Donations = Is the Mizzou coach comped for everything in the state of MO?

Are you completely forgetting Grant's last year? And that was a 19-14 NIT team, not an 8-24 team.

Arguing that Bama is a better job than Mizzou shows a complete lack of awareness of anything non-SEC

Tennessee had its lowest attended game of the past 13 years this season in one of those new 6:30 ET mid week games and it was a crowd of just over 12,000.

I think it's the 3rd best job in the conference behind Arkansas and Kentucky. Obviously there is a Florida argument to be made as well.

Definitely top 4

Not sure how Florida isn't the second best job with a newly renovated arena, premium recruiting base, championships within recruits' lifetimes, and a Final Four appearance three years ago
