Had dinner the other night with a long time SEC and media person, posed the question…

Q1 What are the 4 top basketball jobs in the SEC?

Response
#1 Kentucky - no surprise
#2 Florida - a bit surprised but they are a generation younger than me
#3 Arkansas - because they are not a 1 coach wonder
#4 Tennessee - because they have all the intangibles besides a deep Natty run

Q2 Where would you put Mizzou in the SEC job desirability?

Response
Middle of the pack, but defiantly not a top job nor a cellar dweller job.

(Interestingly enough they picked Georgia as one of the better "stopping stone" jobs in the SEC)

Q3 Where would you put the Mizzou basketball job in the national discussion?

Response
At best a Top 30 job but probably closer to a Top 60 job

Calling people stupid is easy when you don't want to face facts about your own team. To say Mizzou is a Top 4 SEC job or a Top 25 national job is a joke and admitting it as fact (with no supporting evidence) means you need to step back from the Yellow Koolaid.

None of this has a thing to do with the post I responded to.

UK is definitely better.
UF - If they're young, I get it. But they really weren't anything before Donovan? Yet to be seen if they can do it post-Donovan.
Ark - Has a better history but I wouldn't put that job light years ahead of Mizzou.
UT - Whatever

Your post said nothing about top 4 in the SEC nor top 25 in the country. You listed about every P5 school as better jobs. That is where you are full of shite and you know it. Sorry my friend, but I'm still calling BS on that post.

I read the St Louis article. It said he moved back to be closer to home, not because Mizzou basketball was an elite job. Clearly you have see what you want to see in war has been reported.

He's from Illinois. Illinois is probably closer to home than Mizzou. He chose Mizzou. You use the term elite when I don't know if any Mizzou fan claims it to be "elite". It is a legit position is what it is. You use "elite" to try to walk back your comments.

Winning a CIT Championship at Missouri State is not like winning the NCAa Championship at Missouri. Clearly the Tigers did not get the 5 or 6 ahead of him on the list so they had to settle for "local boy returns home" type story.

Jesus Grits, step away. Word is he was #1 on Sterk's list all the time. Illini fired their coach Saturday. Sterk knew Illini would pursue him. Sterk made it a priority and flew to Cali Sunday. Monday, Martin tells Cal. He was not #5 or 6 or 7 and he's not just a local boy. He has some history in Missouri but just as much in Illinois.

I agree 100% with your thinking here but when you voice it the under 30 set just rolls their eyes. You are correct about their lack of success before Donovan while a school like Arkansas has been getting to the NCAA's since the NCAA began and they have multiple solid coaches to fall back on like Lambert, Rose, Sutton, and Richardson.
