I was just in disbelief. No negative feelings just feeling like im in an alternate reality. Like what are the odds of this happening in back to back years. Bizarre. Happy for Mike Bianco though. Very few deserve it more than he.

When it comes to any other sport i refuse to root for any other SEC team... baseball is different... Voluntears have no one to blame but themselves for they way they act and played the sport by turning off all the other fans from the SEC. Vandy lets a fan ruin their team!

Congrats to the Rebs!

I think that, going all the way back to little league, baseball has a different vibe here than football in Mississippi generally. Different kind of fraternity involved it always seemed to me, possibly because keeping baseball popular in this state has long been a passion project involving various people around various communities going back to the 80s. There's a lot of diamonds in this state that are still a part of now larger parks that started off with a couple of guys, a tractor, a cooler, and a few Saturdays because they wanted to make sure they had a place to teach their kids how to play the game they loved.

I think that's why you see a lot of support between teams and just a lot of pride in general for MS teams among many Mississippians. Part of it is competition, but there's a pretty deep love for the game among many in the state.

I can't say that I'm one of them - I was fricking horrible at baseball, haha - but my best friend was until he threw his arm out in high school. His dad was one of the guys who helped build a lot of those fields back in the late 80s.

I'd agree with the sentiment State fans are displaying.

While it would normally be awful to have your greatest rival win it right after you, this is different.

State and Ole Miss haven't had many periods of success like this. State was the first SEC program to have a winning baseball program though.

It's a unique situation to have those 2 schools win back to back titles like this.

It was cool to see some long time ole miss posters reactions yesterday and last night. I remember that elation. I'm good knowing that we have one.

The baseball gods have their reasons for what happened in back-to-back years. However, I want Bianco to go back to his old ways and none of this new stuff.

Mississippi loves college baseball, and for two straight years, a Mississippi fanbase has taken over Omaha and shown the world. We, as a state, don't get much to thump our chest about, so I think most folks can put differences aside and enjoy the spectacle.

If you want to check on a baseball fanbase today, check-in on the hogs. It's been a tough 5 years for them.

it didn't bother me like I thought it would when State won it. Probably about the same for them this year.

Cool! It should not. The state should be proud of both schools. As an LSU fan, I was pulling for every SEC team except the A&M. I like Miss, Auburn and Arky. Ole Miss because they represented what good pitching and peaking at the right time will do. I was also pulling for Bianco.

Most of the reactions from my friends and family have been welcome to the club type, don’t remember who was there first type shite. Which is fine with me. I said good job guys last year, and they are saying the same thing. Like the other poster said, if they had lost, don’t think it would have been this Friendly lol.

I think this definitely helps to relieve the burn a little.

I’ll always root against the rebs in sports however back to back titles for MS is amazing. Folks in every corner of the state are happy about their baseball team. Also frick Alabama and Auburn.

Most State people are happy for Ole Miss and particular Coach Bianco as he well respected around state.
The rivalry is still fierce but in baseball I think it is very respectful between us.
Plus if you are not a Tim Elko fan then you might be living under a sand pile.

Plus back to back titles for Mississippi is just plain awesome. It does nothing to diminish what we did last year.

Now watch State win it all in 2023. They will call 2022 the hangover year.

It was great to see Bianco and Elko get a title. Have a feeling Elko will end up coaching at OM one day. It’s also great for the state of MS. I believe we had a Juco team win the National Title this year too?

To be totally honest, while Ole Missfits are the enemy, the baseball team doesn't really bother me for a variety of reasons. Plus I like Mike Bianco and was happy for him after he took so much crap from UM fans lol.

He's actually a very good coach but secretly, MSU fans knew firing him would have been a good thing if you are a MSU fan even though we have not lost a series to them in a long while.

Pearl River CC won the JUCO CWS.

Baseball is a different bird than football. A lot more collegiality, generally. Except Tennessee. That may be a reflection of the coaching.

Ole Miss , Southern Miss and MSU are all 3 getting it done on the baseball diamond.

Until MSU won it all last year, Jackson State had long been the most successful baseball program in the state - lots of conference championships.
