It seems like the only types of QBs on the roster are dual threat, run first types. What is the expectation of how they’ll fit? Garrett Shrader to me seems like a run first guy as well as the kid y’all started a couple years ago after Fitzgerald went down.

And I’m not an alter or anything, I had an account here with over 1000 post but I lost my password and didn’t have access to the email anymore

Doesn't really matter who their QB is, he and multiple replacements are going to be dead under the air raid offense.

75% pass on a line that was shite in pass protect? They'll be playing walk-ons at some point.

State fan I know thinks Shrader will be moved to receiver and their new guy will start since Leach recruited him to WSU.

4 star dual threat. Passing 65% completion just under 7,000 yds and 75 TDs, 2025 yds rushing with 32 TDs in high school. He should fit well with Leach's system.

Shrader was forced into terrible passing situation. He was also a gifted runner, which allowed for him to move the ball. Our WR’s were putrid.

WillRogers threw it for 9000 yards and 100 tds playing in Brandon MS, 6A high school...his father is the OC.....same OC Gardner Minshew had...as he too threw for 9000+ yards in the system.

Kayeton hasn’t made final decision...so mike isn’t walking into a complete shite in QB room.

Now, Our wr room looks more like a haunted house.

I’m just curious how the transition is gonna go from a run, spread option type offense like Mullen ran and what elements of it remained under the fat guy to leach and his air raid.

Now I think leach is a great coach, I love his offense and I think it’s a great hire for a school like miss st or South Carolina (I wanted muschamp gone and leach in), I just don’t know how the transition will go.

I’d love to be able to imagine it: I can’t.
We are still having flashbacks to Croom...then Moorhead....5,500 yard passer just seems incomprehensible. But it’s fixing to happen.

Mike ain’t changing shite. We fixing to chunk it

The lack of quality WRs that can catch is going to be the biggest problem with State making the transition

Lol...y’all took our terrible WR coach.

Instantly our guys could catch the ball when he left.

It will get better fast.

It is bad enough you were born stupid then you go and compound your problems by confirming it for the world.

Moorehead's system was multi read and required the QB to hold onto the ball far too long, Leach's is drop back 3 steps and throw to a point, ball leaves the QB's hands in 1.5 seconds on average, no reads.

It is infinitely easier to block for

Leach’s wide splits n Vertical Set makes it easier to buy time for the QB to get the ball out, not that he’s gonna hold it long anyways.
Im sure Mike still runs his tennis ball drills, expect the WRs to improve as a group.

The main source of curiosity would be if he can’t pick up a pocket passer this cycle, and relys on the existing QBs on the roster, will he add a couple wrinkles to take advantage of the athleticism of Shrader? I know Carolina wanted him badly, and he’s an outstanding athlete. It would be a shame to see that kid forced to sit in the pocket being a throwing robot.

Like I said, I would have loved loved loved to have him at SC, he coached Ryan Hilinski’s brother and Ryan is a great fit for that offense.

The bigger problems are O-line play and receivers.

Shrader can throw and run, and the QB Leach wanted for WSU commited to State as an early entrant, so hopefully he can redshirt (play 4 games) and develop.

TLDR: need more WRs.

Mike always finds a qb and out of no where. It’s the portal, Juco or walk on most of the time.

Leach is a self proclaimed Air Raid Purest. I dint think he’s changed much in the past 20 plus years. That said if the QB takes off for a first down, I dont think he’ll object.
As far as QBs, he looks for accuracy and coachability. Rocket arm not needed but a plus. As long as the kid can throw on time, he’ll have a goid chance to win the job.

They’ll all get equal reps, thats one of the things the AR coaches do that is cool as hell. They line up 5 QBs, call a play on air and every QB throws to every receiver in progression. Then theyll rotate so each QB throws every pass on that play. Its cool AF to watch.

True but thats at TT and Wazzou. Shouldnt be a problem finding a QB ready to play for him now, especially this close to Texas where the AR is all over the HS level
