Mississippi State... a class Institution and a true pillar of the Southeastern Conference

Have a lot of respect for Mississippi State and the way their fans conduct themselves. Their teams always give good effort and never quit, usually with a smaller athletic budget than most of their SEC rivals. Mike Leach was the perfect representative of that school and embodied the competitive spirit of the SEC and the south in general... proud to share a conference with Mississippi State and RIP Coach Leach

I've always respected State.
Teams play hard.

For the past few days I’ve been thinking about how special the SEC and its fans are.
He was one of our own, and everyone felt like we lost a brother. Everyone will be pulling for Mississippi State in the near future.

One of my best buddies is an MSU grad. Hilarious dude.
We have a number of MSU and Ole Miss folks in the Metroplex. What's different about Leach is that he sort of transcended the SEC complex.
Always felt he was an outsider. And in a good way, because Leach was an outsider wherever he went. The fact he didn't drop that and was still his own man, despite all the SEC pressures, only reflects on his character.
I like people with an individualistic mentality. I don't like the herd mentality and mob rule, and Leach represented everything counter to that.
He was a special coach. A special guy.

It's also a nice clean campus with friendly employees.

People like to crap on state/Starkville all the time but our campus is really top notch. The only building I want completely destroyed is dorman hall, place is fugly

Agree. Except for the damn cow bells.

State folks are salt of the earth people. Never heard a Gamecock fan say a negative word about the fans or Starkville. As a fan of a similarly mediocre program historically, much love to a fanbase whose football program isn't a perennial winner.

Just had long time MSU AD Larry Templeton on Finebaum’s show, which I never happen to watch, but the SEC network has been on point today.
You could hear the pain and anguish in his voice, not balling hysterical, but a man expressing his communities sorrow for the Leach family.
He very poignantly mentioned that though Mike Leach had only been in Starkville a little over three years it seems like he’s been there for a lifetime.
“We’re not mourning the loss of our head football coach, we’re trying to come to terms with losing a dear friend, a member of our community, and a damn fine man”

I’ll never forget the toughest win Alabama’s 1992 championship team had was against Miss St.
Damn near lost that game if it hadn’t been for a blocked punt returned for a TD by Bama.

We were at that game. My wife was inconsolable because we had the game won (until we didn't). I kept telling her there was no shame in losing to a superior team.

I believe LSU has played State more than anyone.
A Charter member and SEC to the bone.

SECR on point and full of class today

Our school has been through a lot of loss recently and it’s awesome seeing the SEC come together in support. This is the second member of our football program just this season to pass away.

The SEC was full of characters like Leach in the pre 80's. He was a throwback to the old days, moving to the beat of his own drum.

Preach, brother!
As for State, they have the best overall fans in the conference. Hard working, don't give up, and still have manners in both word and deed.
