Calcium tests are non-invasive and quick. Insurance doesn't typically cover them unfortunately. Mine was about $100 but well worth it.

Ok, that makes perfect sense. He had a witnessed arrest with immediate high quality CPR. Odds are his brain wasn't without oxygen very long at all. He's the exact candidate the studies show benefit from the post-arrest cooling treatment.

For what it's worth, whoever recognized the symptoms and called 911 is the person most responsible for saving his life. Their action gave every other person involved in his care a chance.

Off topic but a guy I know always gets CRP land and CPR confused and calls it CPR land. Cracks me up

The fact that we haven’t heard an update like “critical but stable” condition is very concerning

Well in his defense with land prices these days you do need a whole lot of both to be able to them work.

Right... because overweight 60 year olds with high stress jobs were so unlikely to have heart attacks before the vaccine came out...

Definitely right that you need to advocate for yourself and ask for these things while you're getting a draw done.

Some is life experience from loved ones now gone. Life can be cruel but it is a teacher if you are willing to be the student and listen.

I am a big fan of HSA's and while they started off great before both sides (R and D) started messing with them, they are still the best thing for American's as the are the way you determine smaller health bills before they become bigger issues. Early detection is the best policy. I do not think single care is the answer, nor 100% corporate care. Somewhere in the middle is the best IMO as it returns basic care back to the doctor and the patient.

Some folks have HSA's via employer but I am a big fan of having your own account in your name. If you are married I think you get a higher tax deduction as they are counting 2, not 1

This guy gets it those calc tests are crucial. It amazes me how many people don't know about it, but I get it the medical industry doesn't want to save your life they just want to keep you on meds and charge you outrageous surgery cost. That simple $100 test could definitely save your life.

Not really. Stable likely just means on life support and stabilized

And we also try to keep our calories between 1500 to 1700 a day

Yikes I would starve. But I’m a big guy at 6’6. I need about 3k a day if I’m not very active. Most days I eat 4-5k because I stay active being my job involves a lot of manual labor. But I cut out sugar 2 years ago and try to eat decently.

I played offensive line/TE in college and back then I ate 10-12k calories a day and never gained a lb from it. I miss being able to do that
