He may have been oxygen deprived for quite a long time and would mean he won't/can't recover.

Human brains and lack of oxygen is one of the scariest things out there. It takes barely no time at all with even just reduced oxygen intake to cause permanent damage.

His son just happened to be in Starkville last night, which is good. That came from one of our podcasters, Leach was at his Christmas party last night and they said Leaches son was in town.
Damn, how tragic. Although it is awesome (if it was going to happen any way) that his son got to come down. Hell, if his son wasnt there he might have just died at home all alone (many people's worst fear).

Wouldn’t they have him getting at least some pretty good care in the meantime while they waited on the weather. Once his hearts beating again he’s getting oxygen or they have him on a machine . I know little about it obviously

Why would you assume alone? His wife was likely home?

Why would we assume anything? She could’ve been out on an errand or in the room with him. We have no clue

Yes it is. An airlift is still considered an ambulance. I had to be airlifted to Houston from Hattiesburg a year and a half ago. They drove me to Laurel and flew me on a fixed wing to Bush. Both were considered “ambulance” rides.
Damn that sounds very fkn expensive.

As of now, it looks like he is still alive, but likely on life support

MSU Staff story on Leach

quote:

Today has been a very difficult day for all involved. The tragedy of it all makes me realize how precious life is. I makes me appreciate my friends. It makes me realize how privileged I am to have any kind of relationship with the colorful Mike Leach. I don't know what tomorrow holds, but my hope is that the Pirate gets to keep swinging his sword. My earnest prayer is that Mike gets to head back out to Key West and have a lengthy and relaxing retirement with his wife, Sharon. No matter how badly we all feel, the family feels it 100 fold.

I cherish every conversation I've had with Leach. I always learn something. During our conversation last week while I was out west, he talked about the wife and I coming to Key West for a visit. He promised to introduce me to all the pirates. Tonight, there is not much I wouldn't do to ensure that happens. Keep fighting, Mike. Keep fighting!

Yes! And still swinging his sword! The Reaper is still trying to figure out Leach's air raid attack while Leach throws him off by inundating him with random facts and rambling statements. Pirate up coach! I'm gonna have another rum for the Pirate Coach.

So what’s the story? Weeks ago there were reports he was going to retire due to poor health. So this doesn’t seem to a random episode. This is so strange
I heard this too.

That's why people have insurance for it. My parents have insurance for instances just like that.

Wait, so why is it ok for you to just dismiss someone "from society" because THEY have mental health problems? Y'all some Ableist hypocrites, I swear!

Thank you. It’s not been the best last few years - all around with family but life is life good and bad.

I’m going to bed, I hope we get that miracle news on Leach in the morning.
