Miami got beat by two teams that lost to 7-6 Cal.
Miami won when it counted though. Beating Ole Miss that beat UGA. So deal with it

There are two things here, the greater playoff schedule and nil/portal.
In the stacked days of recruiting Ba was absolutely built to sustain. They were better than the opponents down to 4th and 5th teamers.

The football tournament is now the basketball tournament.
Your entire season doesn't matter nearly as much as how well you are playing at the end of the year.

Or maybe we're actually making teams earn it on the field instead of through the media. The playoffs are important because we don't have enough data points just through regular season play to know who is truly the best.

what this proves is you don't need to have any accomplishments during the regular season anymore. College football is now the NFL

Then why wasn’t LSU in the playoffs?

Only 12 teams out of the 100 or so FBS schools make the playoffs. So you need that accomplishment.
What's the alternative? Just going off the regular season alone? What "accomplishments" did UGA have from the regular season? A great win against Alabama? We see what that was worth after the Indiana-Alabama game.

We have no idea whether all those SEC titles over the last 15 years would have held up in a fairer playoff system.
Nor does it matter.

I could be wrong, but I'm forecasting a Georgia vs TCU style beatdown, except this time it will be the Hoosiers mudholing Miami.
Just like TCU vs Michigan, Miami sacrificed too many players getting past Ole Miss to be anywhere near full strength for the championship game.
Of course Indiana could have a lot of wounded tonight, but I don't think Oregon has the size or nastiness on defense (or offense) to cause much pain.
Then again Oregon could surprise me and end up winning? In that case it's pretty much a toss up, not touching the one with real money

Bowl games are meaningless.
And if the SEC had a winning record in the bowl games, I'm willing to bet you wouldn't be writing that.

The Big10 has only 1 win over the SEC in the playoffs
And the SEC has only zero wins over the Big10 in the playoffs. What in the heck does that statistic prove?

It's been this way for years and it has nothing to do with who wins or loses them.

The other person was acting like the Big10 was dominating teams in the playoffs, I was pointing out they weren't. It's mostly Indiana.

Bama should never have even been in the playoffs, also how did they even get into the sec ccg over Ole Miss and A&M? Same way as duke?

I prefer the regular season being the "elimination"
Miami already lost twice. In the old days they would have been eliminated and fairly so.
I don't like the college basketball model of 1 tournament everyone cares about and 5 months of regular season games that mean almost nothing.

That’s actually probably why they have made it. The underdog, no denying us mentality will go a long way.
I think Indiana feels the same way too even though they’re number 1.

Though I see that Alabama probably could have used a bit more sharpening against Indiana.
Oregon clearly wasn’t prepared by Big competition either

A team that actually won a playoff game should’ve never been in the playoffs?
Interesting that’s who you point out over Oklahoma, James Madison, Tulane. Jealousy is noted

Ohio State won as the 6th seed last year too.
The year before the expanded playoff, the best team (UGA) was left at home.
We finally have the first truly real champions being crowned.
It is so much better this way.
