can you suspend people for being terrible?
Sure,Bama does it all the time. Although they just call it "processing" and its not temporary.

Sounds like Pinkel is trying to process Mauk because he sucks imo

Rumors suggest this may not be temporary. I hope that's not the case, I do wish the best for Maty. Frustrating as he can be, he's a gamer, and a gritty player. I don't want bad things for him, and he's dealing with a lot personally right now.

They're really just benching his arse for poor play but this is actually better for his reputation.
Pisses me off to see people like him, Trevor Knight, and a few others make huge and extremely accurate NFL-type throws against Bama only to see them never ever play well again.

From all accounts the kid has a lot on his plate, which includes his Dad having cancer. I read something earlier that as recently as a couple days ago he had to have surgery to address it and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if whatever happened stemmed from that.

it wont prevent us from sucking. we will find a way to lose even if mizzou plays with 10 dudes.

Yep, the backup will probably put on a Montanaesque performance..

His dad had surgery for colon cancer yesterday. Dad was also his coach growing up and through high school. I'm sure that is playing a role in his poor play on the field.
Mauk and his roommate were both suspended. Don't know if they're connected, but it seems possible if not likely. There are rumors about Mauk and recreational pharmaceuticals, but he hasn't been arrested. We have a freshman who was better than Mauk in camp, and plays in every game - moves the offense too. A picture starts to take shape, but whether it's the right conclusion? Who knows?

SC fans should be pissed......Drew Lock is way better QB

If he does, it won't really surprise any of us. He was, by all reports, the better QB in fall camp. Mauk was clinging to the job on the basis of seniority more than performance. Kid is supposed to be legit.

Yes, he's legit. But he's also 18 years old and is going to make mistakes. my expectations are moderate for this game. JMO.

I wish no ill to Mauk whatsoever, but from a program standpoint this is the best thing going forward. It wasnt happening this season anyway, why not get Lock REAL experience for serious runs in future seasons. If he stumbles a bit, big deal, this is the season to get it worked out.

Well he picked a good defense to wet his feet with.. Throw in the 5 offensive coordinators the Gamecocks have which equates to a Chinese fire drill of playcalling. Should be a walk in the park...

We've lost so many people already this year, I don't think it really matters that much anymore.
Hell, we might even improve to a 4-8 or 5-7 season.

How many big games has he played and how did he do?
South Carolina / Florida / @ Georgia / @ Vanderbilt / Mississippi State / BYU / Tennessee / @ Arkansas
Not exactly an easy schedule left and half of those could be losses

He's a true freshman, so we'll just pretend this is a rhetorical question.
We are in a better position to win games with him on the field than with Mauk. Mauk has years of experience, but has made questionable progress (if any) with all that experience. Lock is the future. The future is now.
