Didn’t go very well the last time AU interviewed an assistant (Kirby).

We won the SEC 11 months after we interviewed him

Sark approached Auburn. He is getting an interview. I think Elliot will too.

Why are Bama fans melting? Surely y’all didn’t think Sark would be around for a long time.

Report: Former Auburn, Alabama assistant James Willis pleads guilty to domestic violence, gets probation

Yea I remember. He'd just left for Texas Tech with Tubs I think?

Apparently he was the DC at Lafayette after that and then was the LB coach for the Saints until 2017. Now he is a head high school coach in Covington, LA.

What could go wrong .

Sexton is about to turn this into the highest paid Coordinator in CFB and a coach in waiting position at Bama.

I posted this on the Alabama forum too:

If he does interview and gets the job, it would be ok - it may take awhile for him to get the kind of talent he has to play with at Bama.

That could take years.

Think about it, he has had 3 NFL QBs (Hurts, Tua, & Mac), Multiple NFL RBs, about half a dozen NFL-ready 1st round WRs and OLs.

Ya ain’t gonna get that kinda talent any time soon on the Plains. They will need 3-4 years of heavy recruiting considering the mess they have this year.

Guy deserves another chance at some point though.

I’ll add: He is an excellent offensive mind - much more modern than Gus.

Do you guys want that? It may be what it takes to keep him. Whether it's Auburn or somebody else.

Not really melting as much as it’s amazing how any coordinator under Saban is guaranteed to get a head coaching job again. Not matter how toxic their past it. It is quite dumbfounding. You expect guys like Kiffin, Locksley, or Sark to last longer than 2-3 years to repair an image. Oh well. On to the next project.

He won't accept the job even if offered. Coaches routinely interview for jobs they have no intention of taking. It's just a resume builder.

That's true. Hopefully he stays sober, but if he were to fall off the wagon it might still work out. If he can manage not to lose his pants in a lake, he might find himself somewhere in between the two in the long run.
