I'd be ok with him being the next guy when Saban leaves. I'm not sure the technical, legalities of head coach in waiting are allowed anymore, so I'm not sure how all that would work. If I remember correctly being named "coach in waiting" went away because it limited recruiting.

But I'd be fine with him being the next guy.

I don’t know, with the transfer portal they could see a lot of talent moving in quick, especially if they are eligible to play immediately. With a small signing class that would leave a lot of room for scholarships.

Klatt on WJOX mentioned that might be a possibility the other day.

Saban has been against it in the past, but that was several years ago. As the last few years of his career get closer and assuming he thinks Sark is the right guy to carry that label, he may have come around to it.

As a fan, I don't care. I like his prior HC experience. If not for alcohol, he may still be at USC. If he has that monkey permanently off his back, he brings a lot to the table. Plus, I'd like the continuity in processes, philosophy and systems to keep the machine turning. Wouldn't be the worst thing.

Surely it could be informal? The only other time I remember that really working though was Jimbo at FSU. Muschamp bailed on Texas for UF before he got his shot there.

That monkey might jump back on pretty quick after dealing with Auburn and our fans

Yea those were the 2 high profile ones. I think the hang up is obviously how long Saban is going to stick around. And at this point I'm not sure anyone (including himself) knows.

But yea, I could see a transition of power much like Stoops to Riley or Meyer to Day.

we laugh, but I feel that might be a factor for him.

I honestly think Arizona would be a better stepping stone for him than trying to jump in and fix AU in the middle of Bama's streak and a resuregent LSU, UGA, and UF.

Hope he gets hired there. Bama will have no trouble beating Auburn.

Anyone but Freeze at Auburn and Bama will dominate them under Saban.

No, his record at Washington wasn't stellar. His resume is not worthy of the Bama job.

Let's be honest, who really does have a resume worthy of Bama right now? Dabo? And that's about it.

Link of proof?

In what world do you think there would be linkable proof of this? It's happening, but it's not like Sark or Auburn would announce anything like this. I can tell you that Sark is at least interested in talking. Doesn't mean he would take it if offered.

Would love to see sark get this job. Would be a great redemption story. And I think he would do a good job.

Actually, you said Sark approached AU. That is almost certainly false.

It is all but guaranteed that Sexton approached AU to gauge interest and possibly drive Bama contract renegotiations with or without Sark's initial knowledge because that is what agents do: keep options available to continually improve their clients' positions.

Taking an interview prior to the CCG would be a stretch, but not out of the realm of possible.

And, like you said, an interview and even an offer doesn't mean he's leaving.

I'd live with it. May even mail him a bottle of bourbon as a welcome gift
