Matt Hayes says ESPN was not the problem and it really wasn't money. It was an insider....

Saban is a scared little bitch. He won't win another championship, SEC or orhwrwise.

The schools that piggybacked off Alabama’s decision are scared little bitches too though

Roberts and Cohen should be embarrassed. First big conference-wide decision and they act like pussies.

This seems like a safe and reasonable assumption

How much would you consider adding the 9th game is worth money wise?
Plus there's been no concrete thought to what the league will do once Texas and OU enter. Just speculation. Should we put all of our cards on the table before we know what their worth?
ESPN ain't adding to what they are paying now if we just go ahead and add an extra game. They will get premium content for chicken feed.

LOL. I mean we know what it would mean for you if the article is true. It'd be better if you just acted like you didn't GAS (which is probably true) instead of writing a book of apologetics.

There really should be a Nick Saban board. I am certain it would get more activity than at least 75% of the other ones already here.

If the article has been posted before, my apologies. But the "Nick is scared of LSU" thread starters didn't have anything linked to them that I could see.
This is a guy who has been covering college football for two decades or more that talked to someone sitting in the room. Take it up with him. I didn't just tell you your coach was scared. But I did give you an article with a guy with some credentials writing about what caused the 9 game schedule to disappear.

The article addressed this and said its nonsense. ESPN would obviously pay more for a 9th game. The only point of contention would be how much more.

That article was pure speculation and innuendo.
We and the author have no idea what the actual offer from ESPN was or wasn’t and his conclusion that somehow Saban is responsible for three other schools deciding to vote against it, one of which being Auburn is laughable.
If there was a TV deal on the table offering value that would’ve created long term stability relative to the Big 10 I’m sure it would’ve been signed.
It’s also more than possible that there are additional changes coming due to the implosion of the Pac10 and ACC so this was just buying time for a better deal.
People also need to consider that Disney is actively trying to sell ESPN so trying to negotiate a huge new deal in the midst of that is usually not a great idea from a timing standpoint.

That would be him writing the article saying what he thinks went down.
He didn't do that. He talked to someone in the room who knew what Sankey said and described his frustration. That's not speculating.

All you have to do is look at the COVID schedule to see where the 24 schedule is headed:
Ark got UGA Tenn and Fla
Bama got UK Mizzou and UGA
How is that fair?
Ark COVID schedule:
UGA
@MSU
@Auburn
Ole Miss
@A&M
Tenn
@ Fla
LSU
Mizzou
Bama
BAMA COVID Schedule:
@ Mizzou
A&M
@ Ole Miss
UGA
@ Tenn
MSU
UK
@ Auburn
@ LSU
@ Ark

Yeah. Sounds legit. Thanks for nothing Nick. Pus. Hope Texas stomps a mud hole in your butt and walks it dry.

I just find it funny how gumps on here told us for years Saban wanted 9 games. First chance he gets he is scared of actually playing a schedule and runs.

Low IQ people would do this.

The amount of people on this board whose pussies bleed daily due to one man is absolutely astounding.

I'm starting to doubt his bullshite about power 5 teams refusing to play Alabama so thats why they only play 1 per year.

Cool you want to go with innuendo instead?
Gossip?
Rumors?
Any of those would work just as well.
Just make sure you mention the source was so confident that they wouldn’t go on record or present any actual evidence.
Since we are dealing in speculation and innuendo let’s run two these two scenarios and you tell me what makes more sense?
Scenario 1: Nick Saban, coach of Alabama, convinced arch rival Auburn and a handful of other schools to forego a massive new TV deal through sheer weight of personality.
Scenario 2: Sankey signed UT and OU without a firm TV deal in hand from ESPN. Then when he showed up to negotiate, ESPN (who is losing money hand over fist and whom Disney is trying to get rid of) said “You are under contract, we’re good.”
So then in order to get his nuts out of the ESPN vice Sankey came hat in hand begging Bama to accept an unbalanced schedule so he could at least increase TV revenues slightly by offering additional premier games so he could save some face for his awful execution of the expansion. However Saban told him to F off and voted no as did Auburn and the other schools because it was a bad deal that didn’t benefit the schools.
So now the league office is trying to scapegoat Saban using unnamed sources to cover their own horrific mistakes.
Which of those sounds more likely to you?
