I saw screenshots of y'all rejoicing off a random dudes claim on TexAgs when he saw him at Chipotle.

Any Sooner fans worried about bringing him back too soon? I get that the RRR is important, but I would think a CFP birth overrides everything else. Plus, the committee takes into account injuries to QBs, especially good ones.

What matters is him being full-go for the back half of the schedule, not Dallas. That's why they flew him off to have immediate surgery.

So they're not rushing him back for Dallas?

Why? There isn’t any re-injury risk assuming he got screws and a plate put in (the only way he would have a chance to play this soon).

It’s just a question of pain tolerance and grip strength. I have no doubt he can start against Texas. I have significant doubts he can throw accurate deep balls in less than 6 weeks.

Either way, if Texas wins, it will be because Mateer didn't play or that we got lucky because he wasn't at full strength..

Texas gets lucky every year by being allowed to play Oklahoma.

Well if it was a broken metacarpal he won’t be back for Texass. It doesn’t heal that quick.

I’m interested why Texas people keep assuming they’re going to win the game if Hawkins plays. As of now (and I am rooting for arch; I think he’s gotten a bad shake), Arch’s offensive production might be comparable to a Hawkins. And the defenses are probably 1/2 in the SEC.

Vegas saying Texas -5.5 is a fascinating spread to me. This game is going to be a rock fight and if I were a betting man (I’m not), I’d hammer the under all day.

Going to need a lot of overpriced fair beers to get through this game. Always excited and can’t wait.

Nah. The kid is definitely coming back. I assume he will go in the draft, he’s a Dallas kid and understands the rivalry, and he’s competitive as hell. No chance they’ll keep him off the field for what will be his only shot at playing the game.

My $0.02. Probably means jack.

I get that, but sometimes a coach has to protect his players from themselves. Mateer is good, but playing him vs Texas might be asking too much, too soon and might not allow the hand to heal properly.

Fair point. Oklahoma has been the primary contributor to Texas having a “weak schedule”

I’d rather play it safe and save Mateer for the 2nd half of the season where games are more important for a chance to get to CFP over RRS. But if he’s legitimately ready for RRS then so be it.

I'm with you.
Also, if Atch looks like shite again at Florida, y'all might win a defensive battle.
