Because you have the right to do something doesnt mean you should. Richt's religion is his business but its a definite signal to his players about what type of religion his team should be

I don't buy that at all. I suspect that he'd be ok with whatever religion, if any, each individual kid wanted to persue. As a Christian, his desire is to make sure that there is an avenue to learn about Christ IF an individual desires to do so. By the fact that some kids said they didn't have a bible, and others said they didn't understand the older translation of the one they had, he saw a chance to do something positive. It seems that he went out of his way to make sure none of the players felt obligated to do anything with the bibles.
He's obviously a good man, and that's what really matters.

All of these are a better use for the Bible than reading the damn thing.

That’s what he’s supposed to do, he’s a Christian. Christians spread the gospel.

Or as it's really called, "wasting time".

Sketchy arse Mark Richt still giving players impermissible benefits at Miami.

It's not like he is going to follow them around and ask what they did with the Bible. Just pick it up and give it to somebody that might want it. They could donate it to the BSU, a church, or throw it away. I'm not sure why anybody would feel any kind of pressure by this at all.

You mean the "personalized Bibles" (emphasis mine) that they might not want to take in the first place because they might consider it hypocritical of them? Those are the ones that they'll give away? Look, I have no problem with Richt giving Bibles, Jack "The fricknut" Chick tracts, new Escalades, etc to players that request them. But pretending what he's doing has no potential to make players uncomfortable or worried is just silly.

Richt was Richt when Freeze was coaching girls basketball. But he actually lives what he preaches. Richt is a fantastic human being.

Yes, he is. Honestly, I think it was a good change for both Georgia and Miami but I will always be grateful to CMR. Mark took UGA to another level and now we are hoping Kirby can take us to the next level.

He may have given them a choice but his preference was clear. If Coach Abdullah gave all his players a copy of the Quaran I'm guessing more than a few people would be offended.

The melt would be hilarious.

Maybe they should have BBQs for the team and police officers.

Sound familiar?
