Is it? I always knew Miami was a private school but I never heard it was a Jesuit school?

what was the value of the bibles? Did he give them to any student that wanted one? Does this break NCAA rules?

I don't think you understand the rules. Some programs have a barbershop on the campus. What is the value of the haircuts? Are they offered to all the students that want one? They can't give them cars, but I would be willing to bet the NCAA won't come knocking over this.

Dude I wasn't tryin' to offend you. I was just tryin' to make a point. I didn't even know we had any Muslims on this board.

Richt is a great man. Would love to have him at Auburn.

Good. Tell him to lose the gold chain it's so stereotypically Miami. But it's better than s trash can.

Richt is probably going to get some blowback for that. I have no problem with it myself and think he is a good, sincere person but there is a segment of our population who will be flat out triggered by this.

You're right, and he probably couldn't care less if they are. I've always been amazed to see people get so upset when others have chosen to exercise their right to believe in and worship their god...doesn't make sense.

It’s just a token of his commitment to living a moral life, and he’s just trying to communicate the importance of that to his players. Nobody’s actually reading it. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I support it.

Because you have the right to do something doesnt mean you should. Richt's religion is his business but its a definite signal to his players about what type of religion his team should be

Miami is private, so as long as the administration doesn't are, it's a lot less problematic than it would have been at UGA. It's still a little problematic. I understand he has the best of intentions, but a lot of these players are 18 and 19 kids who might feel that rejecting the Bible for personal or philosophical reasons could put them in the coach's bad graces, no matter how hard he insisted it was completely optional. There are certainly worse things a coach can do, though. Just saying that's not a completely invalid concern. Richt may be Christian, but Christians aren't perfect, which means someone could have a legitimate concern that he'd retaliate in some small way.

Edit: doesn't care, not doesn't are

Then he can take it with him and throw it away or give it to somebody. It isn't rocket science!

It's not like he is going to follow them around and ask what they did with the Bible. Just pick it up and give it to somebody that might want it. They could donate it to the BSU, a church, or throw it away. I'm not sure why anybody would feel any kind of pressure by this at all.

If anybody checks the history of Mark Richt, they would see that not one single player has ever complained about his putting pressure on them in regards to religion.

Did you feel the same way when Phil Jackson gave players texts on spirituality and buddhist philosophy?

Was his intent to discriminate against non-buddhists?
