Even good coaches can have bad/unlucky stretches. I understand he wasn't living up to Kentucky's expectations, but if your going to run off a coach like Cal, you better do it when you already have his replacement figured out.

What coaches at places like Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, etc went 5 seasons without making it out of the 1st weekend (1st and 2nd round)? Self hasn’t. Coach K didn’t. Roy Williams didn’t (at Kansas or UNC). Izzo hasnt at State. And so on.

Y’all acting like Kentucky didn’t rightfully want Cal gone is serious revisionist history.

So LSU in football runs off Ogeron, a National Championship winning coach, then runs off Brian Kelly. I guess they can’t find a good coach now?

Wait. They did.

So you hired Pope?

How's that rightful decision going for you? Was it the right decision?

The two aren’t mutually exclusive.

Again. It was time for Cal to go. Pope isn’t the right hire.

former player syndrome

It’s the reason why Disney gators are obsessed with hiring kerwin bell for OC or even HC despite him being a d3 coach his entire career

Translation:

That was a series of stupid decisions by our program.

I think we would all troll you less if somebody would just say it out loud. We just have to keep messing with you because you just won't admit running off Cal with no safety net was a bad decision.

If you're going to do that you need to have a top 10 coach ready to go. You don't do that assuming everyone is going to beat down your door because you're Kentucky.

I think Barnhart thought he had a safety net and he panicked when Drew said no.

Again, that doesn’t mean Cal didn’t need to go.

And let’s be honest. The only reason y’all are this invested is because some of your fans can’t grasp that Cal doing ok at Arkansas doesn’t mean he wasn’t stale here. And for some reason you can’t just move on from it. It’s like you can’t enjoy Cal being at Arkansas without Kentucky failing. I see more Arky threads about Pope than Kentucky fans.

I've moved on and haven't posted anything about it this season. But don't act like Kentucky fans weren't talking non-stop shite last season when we started 0-5 in league play. It's not that hard to figure out why some Hog fans are chirping.

WE didn't hire Pope. Our idiot AD did. WE wanted Hurley Oats or Pearl amongst others. WE did not want him to hire Mark Pope who hadn't proven himself as worthy at all.

Has a record that is 1 game worse than Billy Gillespie at this point in his tenure.

Reported to have a 20+ mil roster filled with guys that can't shoot a basketball.

Players barking at each other on the floor.

Something will have to change fast for him to see another season.

He was a weird hire from day1. No idea why Kentucky fans thought he’d be good

It was hope. After Drew declined the job - it was just hope.

The problem is Barnhart. His Howdy Doody view of the world prevents him from making the hard decisions. Chris Beard was, at least to me, the obvious choice. But Mitch the Baptist couldn't sully his personal morals like that.

So we got Mark Pope. Who is simply one of the strangest damn adults I've ever seen. I genuinely don't trust the guy. He's a bizarre human.
