In improving to 9-0, Alabama not only shut out third-ranked LSU, but held the Tigers to 12 yards rushing. May said the performance was not even as well as the top-ranked Crimson Tide is capable of playing.

“I think it was their B or B-plus game, because they made a lot of mistakes early and they were still dominating in the game,” May said. “That’s what really impressed me. You knew they were going to win the game and they were probably going to win convincingly, but … you saw them uncharacteristically make mistakes they haven’t made before. But the thing is, they’re just so good, they can overcome things like that. The offense wasn’t 100 percent, but the defense just goes out and stones LSU for nothing. It’s like throwing popcorn at a battleship, holding someone like that to 12 yards rushing. It’s impressive.”

May be true but how many of those mistakes were due to the defense they were playing. Aranda isn’t some chump.

Tua made some uncharacteristic mistakes and got a little greedy with the deep ball like he did against Missouri a few weeks back. I think some of his issues were caused by his knee which, despite what Saban says, is clearly still bothering him. We have been keeping him in the pocket these last few games. Compare that to the first few games of the season where he would be rolling out or taking off on designed QB runs. Those are both important elements of his game which we haven't been using as of late due to injury.

Despite his limitations, we still managed to gain almost 600 yards of offense against a fairly solid LSU defense. It's a testament to how talented that defense is that, for as well as we moved the ball on Saturday night, we only managed to score 29 points.

Great cornerback and safety play will make a great quarterback look pedestrian

The defense did not play their D game. Held the best offense in college football to 16 points in the first half.

LSU secondary played great and limited Tua's options especially deep.

LSU had no choice but to make Bama try and throw the ball. That’s pretty much the only matchup we could win, our secondary vs Tua / their WR’s.

I wouldn’t say we played our D game, no one is going to shut that Bama offense down for a full game. Especially when your offense looks as inept as LSU’s did.

Alabama was angry, that wasn't their B game. They just played a team with a good D.

It was an extremely impressive win, no reason to make it sound better.

He’s right.

Bama played sloppy offense for a lot of the game.

I honestly don't know why you think his knee is holding him back. That 45 yard TD run should have told you everything you need to know. His knee is fine. He turned the burners on and pulled away. I am sorry but you don' do that on a bum knee. He is fine.

It did indeed. He was in obvious pain after he stopped running.

Yep, our kicking game was awful, we had about 5-6 busted plays that killed 2-3 scoring drives.

Based on how the game went and the yardage differential more often than not that game is more like 40-0.

No- he was clearly running awkwardly that entire run. The knee is not “fine,” but it’s probably “good enough.”

His knee is messing with his throwing more than his running, actually. He's not near as accurate as he was the first part of the season.

Yea Tua missed some throws he normally makes every time. The knee is clearly giving him some issues. Other random plays throughout were uncharacteristic, like Juedy and Jacobs running into each other on that sweep on the opening drive.

His knee may "hurt" but it is not holding him back is the point I am trying to make. A knee holding someone back doesn't allow that run to happen. I thought Tua looked great. He played the best secondary to date and threw for almost almost 300. I don't put too much stock into the interception he threw. he trust his receivers a lot to make plays, and rightfully so.
