Including 25 point loss and a loss to a horrible Florida team that finished with a losing record.

Well there's another team that lost to a terrible florida team with a losing record...that ended up with a very similar record as Texas and still made the playoffs...so your argument is immediately destroyed.

if we instead schedule and beat Rice, we're #1 going into Florida, which drops us to 12

When you start at #1 you can absolutely lose a few. The preseason polls gave UT a huge advantage. Still blew it.

We did lose “a few.”

Mark Ingram is being the perfect little propaganda puppet that his employer (FOX) wants him to be and the OP is too retarded to see that.

Ryan Day should tell Bama to come take their beating just like Tennessee & Texas (twice)

Texas only dropped to 7th after the OSU loss.

Losing by 7 points away from home to a top 3 team which is the returning national champion warrants a 6 spot drop?

You are proving the point. They just look at wins and losses and ignore the SOS.

Had Texas played Cupcake U in their first game they would be in the playoffs.

Why do people care about just "making the playoffs" when they have no chance to actually win it?

It's like LSU fans getting excited about a chance to make the NCAA tournament in basketball. Big deal, they wouldn't get above a 9 seed, so they have no realistic chance to win it.

So tOSU beats Texas in September instead of January. It amounts to the same thing.

Hope they don't cancel it...that would suck for college football.

What needs to happen is SOS becoming a quantifiable metric...not just lip service.

Right now they only really use SOS when comparing teams with the same number of losses. That's retarded. A 9-3 team with a top 5 SOS absolutely should be in over a 10-2 team with a #30 SOS or something.

Don’t blame them. The conference is tough enough as it is.

Then there should be no more complaining about our schedule. We are trying to do the right thing by beefing it up. Sure we can replace Alabama with Akron, but when we go 11-1, the howling will continue from down South.

This, here ^

Big, inter-sectional games during the regular season need to be encouraged, not discouraged. After Clemson next season, LSU has crap lined up for future OOC games.

Texas was also down 17 to State in the 4th quarter and was quite frankly just plain lucky to win that game.
They did not deserve a playoff spot this season. Kudos to them for playing at Ohio State though.

Who cares? We won. And broke your hearts in absolutely hilarious fashion to boot.

A&M was down 27 to SC at home, do they not deserve to go to the playoffs? Hating Texas clouds a the judgement of you hayseeds.

It's absurd that they can't just look at college basketball which actively changed the way teams are discussed with terms like Quality Wins replacing W-L records and how that resulted in great early season matchups.

Expanding conferences and conference games is only further insulating teams from comparative metrics.

But, yeah, it's stupid to play 6 top 25 teams when you get compared to teams that play 3 just based on overall losses.

And, you still see tons of posters in threads here that argue simply 2 losses is better than 3 period., regardless of quality wins.

The schedules are made so far in advance, and these mega-conferences have ruined things.

In a 16 or 18 team conference, its impossible to play everybody. CFB has imploded itself.

Simple, don’t lose to 4-8 Florida

I'm sorry, but this thinking is stupid and lazy.

That 4-8 Florida team still has crazy talent and the SEC grind is real. Look at what Kirby said about them after winning the SEC. Even Georgia was challenged by them.

Texas gets in without the Ohio State game with only 2 SEC losses.

I don't see why anyone should schedule these tougher OOC if they are going to be punished for it while others can avoid them and get in over them.

The SEC is the only conference in college football playing a REAL schedule. Why would we add to it? Why would any of the SEC institutions sign up to play anyone of any significance outside of our own conference?

A team that wants to win a NC should beat teams that only win 1/3 of their games is “lazy” thinking? Ok buddy

Only one way to eliminate committee and their political conflicts.

Have a true on the field playoff with small help from computers for some seeding

12 teams
4 power conferences
3 teams from each conference
Each conference can decide how they pick their 3
4 conference champs have bye.
Remaining 5-12 play Rd 1
Gm 1. 5 vs 12
Gm 2. 6 vs 11
Gm 3. 7 vs 10
Gm 4 8 vs 9

Rd 1:seedings determined by Computer algorithms.
Quarterfinals: top 4 seeding done by computer .( Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl, or Peach Bowl)

Semifinals: At higher seed’s Stadium

National Title Game: At Higher Seeds Stadium
