As long as they stayed in the West, it meant another bad game against Vandy, USC, KY or Mizzu, with only the benefit of a game with UF or UT every 5-10 years. Watch what happens if they suggest a 9 game schedule with AU moving to the East.

Well if you can get the rest of the SEC onboard I don't see how this hurts Alabama in any way shape or form

if y'all want to be in the east campaign and get it down with all the schools - though how keen are the teams in the East to replace Auburn with Missouri?

It's not just if you want it, it's convincing other teams in the league that it's in their best interest.

Why would anyone in the East complain about moving Mizzu to the West, why would Mizzu complain ? The travel by fans is a major issue all around. Actually UM has been screw the worse by this setup.

"If Saban is for it, it can't be good."

That's where.

Which is Alabama's second worst winning percentage against SEC competition. Not really sure what the frick your point is?

I would love AU to move to the East. Keep Alabama as last game and get back great games with Florida and Tenn.

I really miss the FL games.

I know Al/Tenn is huge, but honestly, do Alabama fans look at it as big rivalry anymore?

Of course, I blame Mizzou for this mess.

Is Auburn - Georgia a big game? Because you are posing an equivalent question to us. Just because its been lopsided for a few years no, everyone just assumes its not important.

Auburn-UGA is the DSOR and it's actually competitive...

Both are important for season ticket sells. AU is in better shape by accident, because they have not expanded their stadium like some others. Big screen TVs are killing stadium attendance, but bad scheduling will make things worse.

Or maybe having rivals and rivalry games is just enjoyable, and makes being a fan more fun.

How does Missouri feel about being in the east? Seems they would be the ones pointing out distance to games.

Missouri may want to stay in the east.

I was asking how Alabama fans felt about it.

I'm not sure if this has already been discussed, but "lobbying" is a pretty strong description of what Malzahn did. The reporter basically said that Pat Dye was lobbying and asked what Gus thought. Gus said geographically it makes sense but that there is a lot more too it than geography. And that's literally all he said.

Have you looked at our other SEC overall records? If you wanted us to only play teams that kept our overall series within 10 games we'd play 1 game a year. Tennessee is as close as anybody other than Auburn.

100% yes. It's #2 behind Auburn.

I mean, if you want to use that logic then who exactly should we play?

Record the last 10 years

Tennessee : 10-0
Arkansas : 10-0
Mississippi State : 9-1
Florida : 6-1
Ole Miss : 8-2
Texas A&M : 4-1
Georgia : 3-1
LSU : 8-3
Auburn : 7-3
South Carolina : 1-1

I would say that the AU rivalry has supplanted the UT rivalry....unless you are of certain age who view UT as the main rival. I do think if push came to shove the AD would keep the UT game over AU. It's been played a lot longer and I just don't see it happening that we would give it up just to accommodate AU when they get to keep the DSOR. They would get better games in the East but we give up either the #1 or #2 rivalry just to help them out? Why would Bama want to do that?

If that happened the rest of the SEC would hate it if we had to play the iron bowl two weeks in a row.
