How many points will Gus score this year with linemen 3 yds down field?

A least 44, if we are basing it on last years IB. I can not remember were AU scored on any of the "trickery" plays bammers are bitching about.

Did Gus just admit he runs a high school offense? Lol

Also interesting enough the top scoring offenses this year in order were

Points/G. Nationally
1 Georgia. 41.3. #8
2 Alabama. 36.9. #16
2 Mississippi State 36.9. #16
4 Auburn. 35.5. #27
5 Texas A&M 35.2. #28
6 South Carolina. 32.6
7 Arkansas. 31.9
8 Florida 30.3
9 Kentucky 29.2
10 Tennessee 28.9
11 Mississippi 28.3
12 Missouri. 27.8
13 LSU 27.6
14 Vanderbilt 17.2

Maybe Gus is only worried about AU scoring and not necessarily all of college football?

There have to be things to differentiate it from the NFL to give it something as a product. Otherwise you're just watching the same thing with inferior talent.
Are you actually serious? A couple of posts ago you said something about rules changes getting in the way of CFB progressing....really?

Again, the Gus Rule wouldn't effect any of the plays that Gus used to put 44 points on the Saban/Smart Defense.

Yup, Auburn and other option teams abused the rule way too much

The solution to that is to enforce the rules, not change the rules.

It should never been changed from 1 to 3.

Who cares. Auburn will still beat Arkansas by three scores

it won't matter that much. The game happens to quickly for the officials to keep up. This will help a little bit, but won't make much difference with the fast offenses.

So he uses attendance as his straw man.

That's worse than the player safety argument from last year.

Congrats Gus, you've one-upped Saban,

The biggest problem I see with this rule change, is whether or not the OL is engaging a defender....that's the point of argument here IMO

There's already too many inelegable receiver down field calls as it is changing the yardage from 3 to 1 will just make it that much worse

Actually it will make it less ambiguous for linemen and officials. I would not be surprised to see fewer calls once teams recognize that they can't get away with faking run blocking on passing plays.

Yup, especially when so many rules favor the offense. This is a step in the right direction to keep the scores from getting out of hand

??? your logic sucks. There are too many new rules favoring the offense, so so get rid of those new rules don't change an entirely different rule.

I'm an Auburn fan.

Personally, I enjoy "old school" football more than what we are seeing in a lot of games today and would love to see defenses catch up to what offenses are doing and bring scores down.

That said, artificially changing the rules of the game is a chicken shite approach way of doing it.
