Ironically, Bama wants to give Saban credit for LSU's 2007 NC because Miles won it "with Saban's recruits" but when Malzahn is successful in 2013 it is in spite of Chizik being "awful".

Haha. So true.

Gus does better interviews I guess.

I know. Changing minds don't exist, and at least I'm man enough to evolve my stance when confronted with facts and evidence.

You however won't. You will probably make some other bs up to belittle. I know you and your post history to well.

I do think Gus will have to constantly evolve this offense and his long term success will depend on that ability. About a year ago in the NFL, I kept hearing that the zone read was going to revolutionize the NFL and there was no way to stop it. Fast forward to this year and it is quickly fading as defenses are adapting. Give coaches in the SEC another year or two to adapt to Gus's system and let Gus be in charge of recruiting and we will see where he is.

As much as I thought Chizik was a joke, he was a heck of a recruiter. Let's also not forget that Malzahn hand picked Moseley and Frazier to run his offense.

All in all its been great to see what he has been able to do with the team this year.

Auburn had some talent on the roster when Gus took over. Alabama was not as fortunate when Saban arrived in 2007.

I agree with both above post.

What Gus has done is still amazing. To barely beating state to pummeling teams at the end of the year.

That is just great coaching.

It would be hard to argue that Gus isn't a very good coach, at this point. Would also agree that Saban is over-rated as a gameday coach. He's choked twice against Gus. I don't think that is coincidence. But his results, no matter the philosophy, speak for themselves. I guess time will tell who is seen as the better coach, Gus has plenty of time.

I don't agree that Saban should get credit, but you do have to realize the situations are different.

And one of those differences would be that Saban didn't precede Malzahn at Auburn. If so, the spin would be......Saban stocked the roster and put the process in place but was a player or two away or some shite like that.

I was talking about Florida 2008 and 2009. LSU 2007 and 2011. All those teams man. Auburn hasn't faced near the quality of those opponents on this run. Even Bama is down. Alabama had to play some hard arse opponents in our championship year. Gus went through the SEC in a crazy down year.

No logic in your post.

you said

It proves that their last NC was all Gus and not gene. This is obvious.

and I said
quote:

gus did everyone's job at the same time??

all = doing everyone's job and no other coaches had a hand in their success that year. fyi

gus must be one hell of a coach to be able to do all the recruiting and coaching of all the other coaches. therefore he must be superman

Malzahn inherited a shite ton of talent that Chiz didnt do shite with in 2011. Major discipline problems, and basically complacency after 2010 magic with Cam. Gene Chizik just didnt know how to handle success.

Saban understands success and especially how to deal with it and use it to set the standard going forward. That makes him great.

I am very interested to see what happens next year after this years very special season. Gus will have a ton of seniors and another great class to work with, so no excuses.

Unless we have injuries, next year should be special as well, this time though, with a target on our backs. I'll declare Gus greater than Nick once and only if he shows he can manage past overachievement into a standard of greatness.

Both are top notch in the parameters of their philosophies. Neither has a clear advantage when they're at the top of their game. So you really can't say one system is superior to the other. Both have talent to work with. Saban is one of the best defensive minds ever, just as Malzahn is with his offense. It's entertaining to watch.

Recruits want to play for malzahn so recruiting will take care of itself.
And if u swapped gus with your coach right before kickoff, im thinking he will find a way to beat your coach with the other players.

Gus has done an OUTSTANDING job. I think our staff, from top to bottom, is the best in the SEC. The gumps have to be concerned with the success Gus has had so quickly. We are wayyyyy ahead of schedule. This will only help in recruiting. It is going to be fun watching how this Gus/saban thing goes moving forward. I am hearing we are trying to get Texas on our schedule just so we can see.

Yea got to hand it to Gus, he did it in 2010 now in 2013 ( if he beats FSU). Eventually all the SEC Coaches will have his offensive plays diagramed, and his success won' t be like now. Remember how JFF was all the rage last year? Now where is he at, and A&M??

I am a firm believer, that solid defensive football wins games, along with Solid offense together.

Will see next year if this right or wrong....for now, let them enjoy their 15 minutes in the limelight, they deserve it...WAR EAGLE!

And so the Gus drinking kool-aid is in full swing. Let's put this in perspective shall we... Saban has won 3 of the last 4 NC's, has won 4 total, was close to making it to 2 more NC games in the same time span and yet Gus is better then him?!?!?!?!?!
