Gus is a great coach, but he had multiple top 5 recruiting classes, that were recruited for his system, and a good Juco transfer QB when he stepped on campus day 1. Saban built Alabama, and LSU before that, by himself.

Say what? Some of those top recruits either left or got kicked off. Those same recruits were there last year when they sucked arse. Shula left Saban with plenty of talent.

So your argument is invalid. Gus is the future of college football. Saban depends on top recruiting classes. Specifically number 1 recruiting classes.
HUGE difference between top 5 and number 1 recruiting classes. Reason being, some of his top classes were so far and away better then even the number 2 class.

GTFO if you think Gus will match Saban's record. Auburn has been pulling stud recruits for years--before Cam btw. And Tuberville was/is a damn good coach. Cheesedick didn't inherit scrub talent, and he didn't leave scrub talent. This is flash in the pan. Auburn is Bama's lil bro, and LSU's bitch. There are two big dogs in the west. Aubbies aren't one. But they do own their state this year (as in 2010).

Yeah, no there isn't.

Newsflash: recruiting rankings are not an absolute.

I think this proves that 2012 was an anomaly more than anything.

That team had talent and just quit on a coach.

Don't call me petulant, boy. You may be on the business end of a strongly worded letter soon.

I'll agree with some of what you said. Some of you get panties too tight over a meaningless opinion. It's a friendly Sunday conversation.

Ok. As far as game day coaching is concerned I think Gus is better. He goes for the throat, much like spurrier used too.

I just think going forward, Gus will prove to be just as good.

But as far as bama playing better teams, I disagree. They still had to play LSU, Bama, Georgia, aTm and whoever else.

they had a very tough schedule.

Auburn was 2 and a half years removed from a national championship dude. No matter what you say, they still have good players left over.

Ironically, Bama wants to give Saban credit for LSU's 2007 NC because Miles won it "with Saban's recruits" but when Malzahn is successful in 2013 it is in spite of Chizik being "awful".

Ok. Saban had to get his system going and the right players.

I will retract some and say Gus will prove to be as good as Saban. It's a possibility.

Saban is still number 1 no doubt.

Saban can't be #1...you've already said Gus > Saban.

I don't agree that Saban should get credit, but you do have to realize the situations are different.
