But sure, tell me the problem at Texas is the coach.
Texas is a dead program.

Hope you're wrong for Sark's sake, but I think you are right.

I guess you have to take the job if you’re Sark. But it will be a tough task for sure.

Too many cooks in the kitchen at Texas. Their problems are like Auburn on steroids.

Tom Herman took Texas to the Sugar Bowl in year 2 (and won, fml) but he never sustained that kinda success.

His last 3 years or so, they were bad. I think he grew tired of recruiting and the annoying boosters.
UNC energized him and you are now reminded that he was a good coach, just grew stale at Tejas.

Sark will be railroaded by year three by those psycho boosters.

Too many chiefs and not enough indians.

That's my fear for him. I hope he negotiated properly, and I hope he made everyone aware that it's his program and his alone. He really needed to position himself to never have to put up with crap from boosters, much like Nick Saban did at Alabama.

In many ways Texas reminds me of that other UT out there -- University of Tennessee. Both are living in the past. Both think that just because they did shite in the 70's, 80's, 90's that kids should flock to play there. It doesn't work that way. In many ways those two programs are going to have to be built from the ground up all over again. Not saying it can't be done, but it's not as easy as the fans thought it would be. (I would put Nebraska in this category too).
Texas has a ton of money and resources. If their facilities aren't the best right now (I know Oregon and Clemson and some SEC schools are better), they would have no problem getting to #1. Should be no issue. Texas needs to get to work on that ASAP. They should go all out and support Sark however they can.
Another issue, as we all know, is their boosters are nuts. Coming from an AU fan perspective, I understand it. But Texas is on a whole other level than even AU when it comes to meddling boosters. Alabama used to be in this situation too with the Bryant clan and the boosters who supported the GOB network there. But Bama wised up and we see the results.

The boosters hired Sark - not the AD. They own him now

I think Sark will do well in Austin. Odds are in their favor that they will eventually find a coach that can turn their program around.

Look at his recruiting at UNC. There's your answer.

Yep. I Honestly feel bad for Sark. His history plus the pressure-cooker situation he's walking into is not a good combination.

Agree he’s reenergized at UNC and things maybe had become stale at Texas, but that’s just because they were spoiled by success.
Take this for instance from a tweet I saw (didn’t verify):
In the seven years since firing Mack Brown, Texas has nine less wins (48) in total than Mack’s seven worst seasons combined (57 wins).

Mack is a very good coach. He was too loyal to long term assistants at Texas and it burned him.

Yep.
Happy for Mack. Guy is a really good coach but an even better man.

It's worth a shot and if it doesn't work you take your 8 figure buyout and go back to OC and live the good life. Win-win.

I can give Mack credit for that.
But you will NEVER get me to admit that Ed Orgeron got LSU to a national championship in year three....then had the best team of all time.
No way right? Can't give parallel credit for similar things.

Texas's problem has been QB play. If Sark gets one like Sam Howell, he'll be kicking arse by 2022 as well.
