Another issue, as we all know, is their boosters are nuts.

Even some of their casual fans are nuts.

I have a friend who is absolutely rabid about Texas, but especially vicious in her hatred of A&M.

She didn't attend Texas. Ever. Her daddy did.

Sark is going to have to put a better product on the field and it is going to have to far surpass the culture of Tom Herman. They didn't like him and it was getting to be a tough sell for recruits as the great exodus of elite players this recruiting cycle clearly showed. If they love you, respect you, believe in you, they play hard. The talent is always there and if Sark is that guy players will come.

The one lesson Sark should have gotten from coach Saban is his relationship with potential meddling boosters. It doesn't exist and I'm sure coach Saban gives that end of the process as much attention as needed to keep it that way. Sark better have been taking notes.

All of the behind the scenes stuff that comes with the UT job is such a shitshow

Sark will go.

Get paid obscene amounts of money.

Be fired when he doesn’t win multiple national titles.

Go back to being an OC somewhere with a fat bank account.

Did Tom Herman not take a team to a NY6 bowl in his second year and win?

Texas has its own problems that are deeper than one person, but if you didn’t think it was time for Mack to go when he did, you were not paying attention.

Mack did the worst thing possible at Texas. He won only one MNC with a generational QB. When he couldn't win another, the fans and boosters turned on him like vicious piranhas. I've never seen a more entitled, terrible fanbase in all of CFB. I'm genuinely happy for the success Mack has at ND - it will be his swan song.

On the flip side, the UT graduates are actually pretty cool people, but they are overriden by the trash that makes up the majority of the fans

The boosters hired Sark - not the AD. They own him now

Just about guaranteed that this is true. Three weeks ago, the AD released a statement saying Herman would be the coach in 2021.

Texas wins their bowl game by 32 points, and a week later Herman is fired and Sark is hired on the same day.

He got a call where he was told we're firing a football coach today. Can you handle it or are we firing an AD too?

Two problems. One is boosters and entitled culture.

Second is they are in a very boring conference. Anybody up for a November trip to Lubbock or Stillwater or Manhattan Kansas?

That statement was intentionally the most vague thing I can ever remember reading. I’m pretty sure everyone within the athletic dept knew Herman was cooked after he was eliminated playing for the Big 12 this year.

Whether Sark himself was the AD’s choice or only the boosters’, I guess we’ll never know. But I do think Del Conte and the boosters were on the same page that Herman had more than worn out his welcome

This is very close to the truth. Very close. I would write about all the issues Texas has, in detail, but then they might actually fix them. Truth is, we at A&M enjoy Texas wandering in the dessert of mediocrity. A LOT has to change for that be fixed, and I'm cerrtainly not going to give them tips or anything. Boosters are only one of the issues. Cesspool is a great description for the program in Austin

Oh man, so our athletic dept won’t be able to subscribe to your newsletter? How will they ever not turn it around with ColoradoAg’s tips??!

I actually like Sark and respect his journey, but think he may have made a mistake here. There’s just no way to navigate the boosters there and install your own culture, which is vital to hauling in recruits and establishing a program.

Maybe he just wanted a $15,000,000 payout

Mack Brown told me all about the inner working of the Texas AD - he's on my Christmas card list. I also have friends that are some of those "boosters" referred to - and they are the JR of the real power-brokers in Austin. Please understand - I'm nobody, and even if I was wouldn't tell you gents. I frequent this board for fun. But I know what Sark is walking into. I just hope Sark doesn't go back to the bottle when he sees behind the curtain

It isn't a surprise to anyone that Texas' problem isn't a talent or coaching issue.

Texas is ranked number one in the nation in entitlement. That university, the boosters, the fans, and the players all believe that everyone is beneath them.

That off the charts arrogance leads to complacency in every facet of their football program.

I hope they continue their descent into the abyss. Such a shite head of a program.

Because the SUGAR Bowl win was from an overrated underachieving team that didn’t care about being there.

Y’all are so dramatic. Herman would have done fine if he didn’t hire a weak arse G5 staff initially. Strong made the same mistake. The game passed Mack by at the time. He tried to switch to pro style offense because one QB got injured on a QB power. Completely ignoring the pussy arse tight end built offensive linemen he was recruiting for a decade.
