First off congrats on a classic Iron Bowl win booger eaters

Second, this Auburn defense to varying degrees caused Justin Herbert, Jake Fromm, and even Joe Burrow (the least so) problems. Of course the receivers made him look good multiple times but Mac handled the defense and JHS well last night. The 1st pick-6 was entirely his fault but the 2nd could be attributed to a few people as well as a great play by Auburn.

Thoughts?

Agreed. When you score 45 points, you should win.

He played great. I was impressed with his ability to throw the ball to the places where the WR's could make the plays and DB's couldn't. Our back end has been an issue for 2 seasons and I was worried we wouldn't be able to stop ya'lls WR. I was right. Thankfully for Auburn we made enough plays to win.

Our time with those thoroughbreds was too short

He did a good job last night, honestly. I know Tua is a great QB but he Mac made some plays to give his team a chance.

Bama lost not because of Tua being out, but bad defense and awfully stupid penalties. Auburn showed up to play and got the job done.

He’s much further along than I would’ve thought considering where he played his first big game. Some poor decisions he made obviously but TBH, I’d rather have him than Brennan going into next year. His quick out routes are perfectly placed and Saban even trusted him enough for the long ball.

Time to regroup for you guys though

Thought he did well. Wasn't afraid to throw it after making big mistakes.

Tua made some big mistakes in the champeenship game as well

Mac made good plays. He also made poor throws and had game management issues; you expect that from an inexperienced backup qb in a very hostile environment.

He may develop, he may not, but he would be serviceable against most opponents in most situations.

He did look very good.
A couple of plays he probably doesn’t attempt with some seasoning.
And he did it all in a hostile environment on a big stage.

Yea but the 2nd required an awful decision to throw in that situation, a dropped pass by the receiver, and a crazy play by the defender

With Tua, Bama wins by a minimum of 14. Mac played well, but the playcalling was far different, and Tua's accuracy and ball placement means the WR's have more opportunities to collect yards after catches, his experience helps the oline...etc.

I was still impressed by Mac's moxie though. Nothing seemed to bother him mentally. And most of us Bama fans already knew he had a talented right arm.

He threw two Pick-Sixes that ended up being the difference in the game. Yeah, he made some nice throws but I won't say he had a good game at all.

He played very well. He was decisive and getting the ball out quick. Brown was on him all night, but Mac stood in their and made plays just in time all game. 1 throw that sailed on him is really the only thing I put on him. The other pick six was just unlucky.

He completed 26 of 39 passes (67%) for 335 yards and 4 TD's against one of the best defenses in college football and did it without the benefit of any real playing experience. I'm thrilled to have the 2 pick 6's...but one of the knocks on AU's secondary (and LB's) this season is that they couldn't catch a cold. Tons of opportunities for INT's and very little to show for it. I don't think we've had a pick 6 this year and we get 2 against Bama? The 100 yard one was totally freaky...McClain wasn't even looking at the ball...Mac had to release immediately because Big Kat was coming unblocked...and his missed his target by just a little.

If I'm a Bama fan, I'm feeling pretty good about Mac for next season...and he may not even be the starter. The Bama coaching staff did a very good job of developing that otherwise unheralded QB

Nah, with the hits Mac took last night there is zero chance Tua would have finished the game. Which means Mac would have come in unprepared and not played as well. Auburn likely wins a game with Tua as the starter by 10.
