I think they would still mostly likely be #2 or #3

If they see this maybe not...

So we asked the MGM Resorts Sportsbook just how much of a favorite Alabama would be over the top teams in the nation.

The lines may surprise you.
Opponent Spread
No.4 Ohio State 10

No. 2 Georgia 11

No. 3 Clemson 11

No. 9 Penn State 16

No. 6 Oklahoma 17

No. 10 Auburn 17.5

No. 11 Washington 19

No. 5 LSU 20

No. 8 Notre Dame 21
No. 7 Stanford 23

Those lines are simply stunning. Alabama would be at least a double-digit favorite over every team in the country.

Why in the world would LSU want to be “#1” going into the Bama game?

Because if LSU is ranked one and Bama beats them by no more than 7 say and then Bama goes on to win the sec and that’s LsUs lone loss they could easily make it in at four if the committee didn’t drop them too far. If they go in at four and they drop a game to Bama and do not rep the west it’s much more difficult for teams not names Bama Ohio State or Clemson which has been the most consistent play off teams.

LSU should be #1. Will they keep that if they get beaten by Alabama? No.

Notre Dame has the Stanford win and the Michigan win, so they would put in over Bama and UGA.
not sure, game control is also a factor. It is hard to look past an 8 pt struggle win over Ball State and a 5 pt win over a Vandy team that couldn't get out of their own way long enough to win the game.

If they beat Georgia and Florida, that gives them 4 Top 25 wins.

I'd think they'd be CFP #1 for sure and possibly the AP. Coaches are a bit slower to change out #1 if that team hasn't lost, even if in a case like that, LSU would be more deserving IMO.

If that happened LSU would without a doubt be #1 in the first CFP poll

Not at all, just topic to be discussed. I can start some LSU troll threads if you would like?

If they remain undefeated and beat a tier 1 school like GA, then yes, of course.

It's not happening, but yeah in this fantasy alternate universe...yes.
