If they beat Georgia and Florida, that gives them 4 Top 25 wins.
Miami #8
Auburn #8
Florida #22
Georgia #2
2 roads wins against Top 25
Look I'm not trying to bait responses, yes this is a speculation topic. That's what fun trying to predict future positioning. It also set a show down between 1# LSU vs 2/3 team with Bama.
Positioning first CFP poll is critical especially with comparing schedule and resumes. Yes I think it's bias on the committee towards certain teams and against certain teams.
This is not Rat Poison towards LSU posters, teams higher up have more leverage and room for error. It's a political side to the CFP that Coach O and his players will have to navigate also. Enjoy the Moments they go fast and look at ticket prizes in advance, travel accommodation etc....chit is expensive. Cheers

If the committee met today and came out with a poll, then LSU would be number one.

They would have the best resume, yes, absolutely.

If LSU defeats Florida, Georgia and MSU, then yes it will be #1 in the first CFB poll. At worst, it would be ranked as #2 behind Alabama or possibly Ohio State (for beating TCU and Penn State).

If we win the games you mentioned we would be number 1. Everyone would know Bama is the best team in the country but you just cant not give it to LSU if they beat the number 8, 7, ~20, 2 team in the country.

All true, but like I said, according to the criteria the committee uses, LSU is currently the undefeated team with the toughest schedule based on what we know now. The committee did not make MSU the number one team because they thought they were better than Bama in 2014, they did it based on the information they had at the time the poll came out. The committee has bumped Bama several times from the top spot, most noticably last year with UGA. LSU would be number 1 and tOSU would be number 2 based on their win over PSU, 3)Notre Dame based on their win vs Stanford, and then UGA or Bama not sure which order but you get my point.

If we make it to that point undefeated then I would not be surprised at all if they made us #1 in the initial rankings.
That said, god help tRant if that happens.

Let's pause this conversation until after the GA game.
That will be a battle and I'm looking forward to seeing it!

Indeed.
All the more reason why the rankings between now and the end of the season mean little. Lot of football yet to be played.

How dare you talk football and not create a troll thread.
Definitely, based on resume alone, LSU should be #1. Will they keep that if they get beaten by Alabama? No. But, at this point in the season no one can put up an argument for another team having a better resume.

Please, please, please let this happen.
This place is way more fun when LSU thinks they're still in it.

Well, if that happens they should be ranked number one, but doesn't mean they are the best team.

If
Florida really isnt anything to brag about btw. They beat an over inflated state team and snuck into the top 25 because its Florida.

Why in the world would LSU want to be “#1” going into the Bama game?

CFP Comittee doesn’t generally ask teams their opinions before ranking
