LIke i said in my other post.. if Texas finishes top 10, not impressive... But OU being top 10, in the same conference is impressive? I don't get it.

Well they do play in a conference with almost no defense
So the 45 they allowed vs. Bama is different than the 44 y'all allowed vs. Clemson?

Yes it can. I’m not the one trying to compare Bama’s game to Oklahoma last year to LSU’s game with Texas team this year with 8 new starters on defense. Why not use the LSU/Bama game from last year as a comparison?

And I thought everyone agreed that the Big 12 didn’t play defense?

I don’t think so? It was different than the 0 Bama allowed against LSU last year, which would be a better comparison than any of these

Do you not think this LSU is team is a completely different team than last year? serious question? You are telling me it s a bad comparison because of the new starters... What about a completely overhauled offense? i think comparing this year LSU's team to last years that got beat 29-0 is asinine.

Did you skip all the post of the Alabama fans saying that last year was a bad defense? Some even had the stats over the last 8 years.

So if you are saying LSU has a bad defense, then yes it is the same?

I don't think last year was a bad defense, but it had some holes that were made bigger by injuries.

Better comparison than trying to game any insights by comparing Alabama/OU last year in the first round of the playoffs to LSU/UT this year in the regular season because of the number of same players on each roster along with same HC’s and assistants.

But yes, each year it’s a different team, but with many of the same starters for each team.

But this comparison is worse than the same season transitive property comparisons we see each season.

It was bad by the standard that Saban has set. Youth at DB that was lost a lot of times. Middle LB making bad calls. The SEC was just bad last year. Throw in the cupcake ooc games the stats looked better than they were. First real challenge was Georgia. Struggle. Then...

Yep - was a pretty bad SEC that year, though the A&M game showed some serious signs of "oh shite" with the total inability to slow them at all in the 4th quarter.

Oh yeah, forgot about A&M that year, that was a single digit deficit. But basically the last half of that game wasn't that close.

The team that pooped themselves that year was LSU. Their offense should have scored 50 points against our defense.

They had talent oozing out their ears going against a unit with CFL level talent across the board.

Who cares about a game in 2019 compared to a game in 2014 or 2018... unless those players are still there??

A myth.
They actually do put 11 men on the field for each play.

For sure, that game was the biggest head scratcher during the 8 game win streak IMO. BDS was rocking that night, though. It was VERY loud. Might've had something to do with our defensive performance.

Why do you guys say the big 12 has no defenses? When you are now defending bad defenses with the offensive play style that is new to your conference but has been in the big 12 since 2007....

OU had the #1 scoring offense in 2018
Texas was #45

OU had the #7 passing offense
Texas had the #35 passing offense

OU was #1 in total offense
Texas was #58

Texas is still only #32 in the country this year.

Stats 2 games into this season don't mean much.

quote:

Alabama held Oklahoma to their lowest YPP for all season, and second lowest points and yards

Elaborating that Alabama had the game wrapped up after building a 28-0 lead in fewer than 2 quarters should have been enough to refute the OP's comparison.

ETA: Their H-back, pretending to be a QB, torched your (LSU's) "elite NFL secondary" for 409 yards and *4TDs through the air (should've been 5TDs). That's a BIG XII defense statistic. That's a middle of the pack BIG XII offense with a middle of the pack BIG XII QB you (LSU) played.
