Wow. That is frankly astonishing. Waiting until the very end of the season when you are assured a losing record to "self-impose" a bowl ban? That's not whistling past the graveyard, that's whistling as they nail the coffin lid shut over you.

Funny thing though, what if the NCAA doesn’t do jack shite? The melt from this board would be fricking glorious. About like what’s going down on tRant right now. Ah well. Either way, world will keep turning. Aggy will still be gay. Daniel will still be a snaggle tooth racist, and Jeffrey Epstein still didn’t kill himself.

Yep. Auburn banned themselves from the post season in basketball which they probably wouldn’t have done much in this year, but at least they have some plausible deniability-you can’t say 100% that they wouldn’t have made it to the NCAA this year.

Sorta reminds me of the story in the Bible about King David from 2 Sam chap 24, where the King had been directed to build an alter to God at a certain place - it was a threshing floor owned by one of the citizens. He tried to give it to King David to use.
But David wouldn't take the gift of land. This was intended to be a punishment, and David told the man [I paraphrase, but you get the gist] "I insist on paying the full price - I cannot accept... that which costs me nothing." In other words, a hollow sacrifice is meaningless for penance and true change.
The philosophy at play here seems to fit this self imposed bowl ban to a tee. Except... LSU *wants* this particular sacrifice, *because* it costs them nothing.
I'm guessing there's a whole lot of smirking going on in Baton Rouge right now, and I hope the NCAA doesn't accept this deal.

I think that had more to do with the punishment the NCAA handed down to Okl. St..
I think it's BS that the schools who had an asst. coach get greedy, with no competitive advantage gained whatsoever, are getting severe punishment from the NCAA.
In the meantime, UNC ran a sham class for years, keeping players eligible, and got absolutely nothing.
