I've read your folks have been really disappointed in the support this year for a team coming off a SEC title and that is having another good season. Kennedy kept talking about how dead the place was against Missouri.

What's the deal there? It didn't used to be like that when your teams were good pre-Wade, back in the Brown/Brady days, did it?

Not even a really good team can hide the impending doom in the air..

But you already knew that before you asked

Two fold IMO

1. Alleva moved the students way away from court where they used to be, making it less loud even when they do get loud

2. Great football season has hurt basketball, sounds weird to say but there's posts almost every day on tiger rant about still being hungover from football and not giving a crap about any other sport

Team is good and Will Wade has really built the program up to a nice sustainability. Should be very good next year too, eventually crowd support should come around

The PMAC set up is subpar, everything is too far away from the court.

And it also appears that the most recent generation of LSU fans grew up without giving a damn about basketball. There is nearly zero enthusiasm from the students to either show up or cheer when they are there.

LSU basketball crowds were canabalized by LSU baseball decades ago, which is now the de facto #2 sport at LSU. In the 80’s the PMAC was the place to be but now that disposal income goes to Alex Box. It will take many years of competitive basketball to get the culture back.

That makes a lot of sense

A lot of things have changed . The placement of the students for starters and 1 and done for starters.

There used to be so much energy at the PMAC now even when the team plays well the atmosphere feels flat. It used to be the marquee players stuck around on average for 3 years....in the case of Robert Horry it seemed like 6. The crowd noise is also filtered . The last really good atmoshpere was in 2005 -06 .

In the late 1980s with Jackson, Shaq and that bunch it was electric.

While this sounds logical, there are still many LSU fans that have never been to see a baseball game in person and would never watch a whole game.

Baseball may have more consistent attendance but the PMAC is twice as big as The Box, and we still fill it up in the back end of the season if we are competing for an SEC title. Long story short, you can't get a casual fan to watch a baseball game with you but at least there are NBA fans and such who like March Madness and will take note of basketball with a good LSU team.

Hard to believe PMAC is only 13000 seats. My high school gym was nicer and bigger.

Nonetheless they average about 11500 per game so that’s almost selling out. Seems like they are getting good return on the product they put out.
