I can’t recall ever having heard anything negative from y’all re: Aranda during his time in BR.

With Baylor’s future looking dodgy, could y’all see Woodward making a move to bring Aranda back into the LSU fold as HC? Is this something Tigers would even support?

Not trying to run off Orgeron. Just wondering what folks’ thoughts may be, in the event LSU doesn’t rebound this season (I’m not suggesting they won’t).

Wow a really good, thoughtful question on this bastion of nonsense called the SEC rant.

You are correct he was great and yes if O flames out it is a very very good chance he is LSUs first call.

His players loved him. He has 0 personality, but neither does Saban....

Most LSU fans would take him back in a heartbeat.

Can he recruit well that is another story.

Seemed to me that he wasn't necessarily on the hot seat but there was some dissonance between his style and Orgeron's, and he sort of had some problem games. 2018 A&M, 2019 Ole Miss and Bama come to mind as some recent botched games. Doubt he's a top tier candidate for Woodward if Orgeron ends up leaving.

I don't think so.

Not unlike Coach O, I think Dave Aranda has a narrow HC personality. Fits only in certain places.

Where Coach O is naturally well fit in his home state, Coach Aranda's mild, stoic approach only fits in places like BYU, Boise State, Hawaii, or Alabama.

Yes, kidding about Alabama.

Dave Aranda may be the most intelligent man in college football, but it takes more than that to win as a HC at the highest levels of CFB. I see his time at Baylor as his opportunity to develop a personality that connects with recruits & their families. If he can do it and lead Baylor to multiple winning records, he will be near the top of our list if we have an opening.

It will depend on both o and Aranda in the next couple of years.

Pretty sure he's on a short list.

Really?

We’re you around his last year after we played Texas or Ole Miss?

But yeah we’d take him back in a heartbeat as the DC.

He needs to win and win big before coming back as HC

He’s not a dominant recruiter and that will never work in a conference with Saban

Good defensive coordinator but doesn't seem to have the personality to recruit or run a college program.

My thought as well.
It’s said ADs always have a “next hire” on auto dial.
Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Aranda is that guy for Woodward.

Hey, lots of guys like Aranda, with the personality of a brick wall, do very well as head football coaches.

With how good modern offenses are, Aranda is a gem and arguably the best DC out there. Easily top 5 in anyones list.

With how fricked last year was, and the impact it may have on this years classes for sone schools, it’s hard to judge Aranda as a HC for now. We know how capable he could be though in the right situation so I have 0 doubt if Ed doesn’t work out we wouldn’t strongly consider Aranda. Woodward likes experienced guys though, Aranda doesn’t have the resume just yet. But I don’t know how much responsibility he truly had, I believe he was associate HC which might be more than we imagine.

I wouldn’t judge Aranda too hard on this seasons results. Another class under his belt with his guy and we can start really making assumptions.

Aranda's probably one of the smartest, classiest coaches out there. I could easily see Woodward giving him a call. He's not a dynamic personality, but if the coordinators/position coaches can motivate he wouldn't need to be.

Aranda is an elite defensive coach, but probably not the level of recruiter we need at head coach

Hadn’t heard that.
I mean, he definitely came across as a “still waters run deep” guy; but I was no expert on his disposition.

LSU HC coaches are certainly known for having bigger-than-life personalities!

If Leslie could do it so can Aranda. People bitch about the Ole Miss game but considering we were up 4 scores the D took naps in gap coverage. Not totally Dave’s fault. When the D finally got healthy getting Delpit back we were a Top 30 D.

He's a very quiet kinda guy, but he's also a defensive Sith Lord by rep...so his recruiting shouldn't be a total disaster.
