Yeah they get nothing. I'm not saying don't pay them but the argument they get "nothing" is down right false.
You're speaking in absolutes
When most intelligent people say they don't get anything, they don't mean it literally, they are talking about in comparison to what they generate
FB & MBB total roughly 100 scholly students, those 100 students gross anywhere from $80million to $200million for their Athl Depts
When you're generating that much money and HCs are making $4 million to $9 million then RELATIVE to what they generate then the Scholarship just isn't enough
The problem that makes the current model quasi-racist, is that the entire burden of generating money is placed on the backs of 2 sports that happen to be majority Black, while everyone else gets to benefit financially without the burden of having to turn a huge profit
Simply force the other Sports to operate at a break-even level and not place that burden on only 2 sports and many folks will stop complaining about the current collegiate model
As long as the model doesn't change, folks are gonna have problems, there's gonna be controversy
If you wanna keep the system the way it is, cap HCs at $750K, cap coordinators at $400K, and cap position coaches at $200K, then tell them if they want more money go to the NFL, after all many folks love to tell the players that if they want money then go to the NFL
You want a fair system, simply tell coaches the same thing you tell the players

This cannot be done without violating title IX and any AD that tried it would immediately be dragged into court.

C'mon dude
Asking Sports to sell more tickets, generate more Revenues, get higher TV ratings and generate their own money is not a violation of anything
In the USA no one has a birthright to lose massive amounts of money forever, in perpetuity with no expectation to ever break even or turn a profit
Folks that throw up the T9 excuse might not fully understand how T9 really works
TBH T9 has gone too far in the way it is implemented and as T9 is currently administered T9 discriminates against other Sports and maybe other students on campus
Example:
An academic major loses popularity and the University stops offering that major or that minor because it is no longer profitable, but if that same school is in the SEC or ACC they will keep certain women's sports around even if it's not profitable, at some point a student is gonna sue on the grounds that T9 keeps money losing Sports around but not money losing Academic Programs
Just because the cases haven't gone to court doesn't mean that T9 is doing things in a fair & legal way

What was her peak salary at ESPN compared to the camera men, technicians, statisticians, etc. that made her job easier and capable of being done?
Bad example
None of Hill's co workers work in an artificially capped market like CFB players do
Also each employee that is Ms Hill's co worker is allowed to negotiate a fair wage package, there is no negotiation in the NCAA for the players, just for the Coaches

WTF are you talking about? The only thing govt does is lose money and women's athletics has been losing money for decades.

So now you're gonna try to explain Title IX to me? LMFAO!I know exactly how it works.
quote:
Title IX states that, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
Someone who can't comprehend how endowed athletic scholarships work is trying to explain Title IX to me?

TBI’s, soft tissue injuries, CTE, etc... You have to be an extremely naive person to not understand the landscape of major collegiate athletics.
The vast majority of these athletes come from areas of systemic poverty that would already leave them more than qualified for grants and FA...
Everyone suggests “free education.” What the hell does that even mean? If a student is offered an academic scholarship, does that student then face the same level of physical and mental demand that D-1 football players face?
You do realize that the NFL is the one causing them to sit out for 3 years before they go pro right? The NCAA isn't the one that controls that. You also realize that you could just not go to college? If you feel that a group of people are taking advantage of you and riding on your coat tails to make money while providing you nothing to get to the next level, why would you voluntarily participate in that? I mean youre so good, after high school just work out at the local park, send film of it to the NFL and work a normal job and get paid like you feel you deserve. I mean those coaches and fancy schmancy schools arent doing anything but using you so you should be totally fine.

That cop was acting like he was in the middle of a bunch of drug dealers. He was acting way to aggressive with Lewis for a cigar. I wonder why?

Everybody on the field is getting paid except the players. Not just the coaches but the referees, the trainers, the kid holding the cable for the coaches headset, the kid in the tiger suit, even the marching band gets a stipend. Every person who steps on that field except the players putting themselves at risk to produce the billion-dollar product being sold. Something is wrong there.
