Why are head coaches compensated 7 figures annually for coaching an "amateur" sport? Some are paid more than their professional counterparts.
You might not care about the individual athletes, but a lot of people do that's why star players jerseys sell with their name on the back.
High school athletes have huge followings before even reaching college some have more than million followers prior to ever stepping foot on campus.
These kids don't need your school or any school. They are only there based on the NFL rules that only allows kids that are 3 years removed from being drafted.
Its Unamerican. The whole system would be blown up if kids were not getting 10s and 100s of thousands dollars under the table.

Anyone care to put a value on just the personal strength/ conditioning and nutrition coaching these football players receive?
How about the personal coaching. to develop into their best position to go to the NFL and succeed?
How about the academic coaching they receive, is that free for a regular student?
Is the legal advice they get on dealing with future agents free?
How about the draft grades and Pro Days? Are those things free?
I see no mention of the absolute fact that many colleges take these young men in when they are in no way physically or mentally developed to play in the NFL after graduating high school, yet they are given 5 years to do such. Plus the players get free marketing during their college careers.
Now most leave after 3 years of college ball if they can.
How is this completely unfair to the athletes?

I’ll outright say it: I don’t give a damn about the individual athletes. I support my Alma mater no matter what SoB throws on our jersey for a few years. You’re already compensated far and away more than what you are individually worth anyways because of the product as whole is what interests us.
This generation has been given everything in life from cradle to high school commencement and they act like they are Kunta Kentaing it out there.

If you think you can make it on social media alone, just be an Instaho or Twatter influencer. This is really the name & likeness issue in a nutshell.
Why play football?
ETA: It's going to be really interesting how history treats all of these "influencers" if they happen to make it to "boomer" age.

Yet MLB drafts the best baseball recruits right out of HS. Same with basketball and the NBA. The only reason football recruits “need CFB to further their career” is because the NFL requires them to be college upperclassmen to get drafted.
