I understand the point. AJ is proven, b/c we know what we get with him. But that still doesn't make it something I want. His known talent isn't great enough for me to make that trade-off b/t the known and unknown. Wilson or Murray, yes. AJ, no.

Nope, I'm anxious and excited to see Mett play.

Yeah, AJ's good and had a good showing the national championship game, etc. but he could never get the ball in the endzone. This goes for both LSU games. 21-0 looks like an offensive arse beating but 5 field goals make up 5/7 of those points. So you Gumps claiming he'll be 10x better than Mett just because he had a few good drives should take of the crimson shades. He very well might be better than Mett, but the latter has yet to play in a meaningful SEC game. Let's let that happen first before we proclaim either one is better than the other.

i'm not even sure who your team is bro, sooo....

I just looked at Mettenburger's highlights from the spring game, and damn he bird dogs receivers like a motherfricker. Should be interesting to see if he fixes that.

I'm an LSU fan - I don't know what we'll have with Mett, but the potential to be really great is there

he had two passes dropped that would have been TDs on 1.9.

I just don't believe any lsu fans that say this. You would take an unknown over a guy you know that's good? really? WTF has aaron murray done besides lose to every team he's faced with a pulse? 21 points against Boise for christ's sake. What makes murray so much better than AJM? I get Wilson because he's tough as nails and doesn't have a defense to help him out, but you would take murray and not mccarron? LSU saw both murray and mccarron and one outperformed the other. This is nothing more than "I wouldn't trade for him because he plays for bama, and God forbid I give anyone from bama any credit."

If someone offered me Landry Jones at the begginning of last year for AJ Mccarron I would have taken it in a heartbeat. I know jones is a good QB but had no idea about McCarron. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush, you don't just pass on a known quantity for a maybe if you're being completely honest with yourself unless you have a gambling problem

If you had to pick TJ Yeldon (hasn't played in a SEC game like Mett) or Michael Ford (proven against SEC talent like AJ), who would you take?

You sound like a Democrat playing the race card, btw.

No shite

Is 0.5 birds in the hand worth 2 in the bush? Or 0.25 birds in the hand worth 2 in the bush? Sorry, AJ =/= a full bird for me. If the offer is sweet enough, I would make the trade. AJ doesn't get it done if I'm LSU's GM

All I see in this thread is I don't understand why you won't take someone who was 1-1 against your team last year when your previous two quartered backs were 1-1 against our team and you think the new guy will be better.

he was 1-1, threw for 0 touchdowns and had comparable stats to Jarrett Lee over the course of the season. Of course LSU fans aren't sold.

Exactly. I'm not confident we would win the NC with AJ this year. Mett might be worse, he might be better, but I'll take the chance.

If we're choosing LSU's quartered back based on who had the best stats against us, we would end up with Geno Smith for nonconference and we would have to take Clint Moseley (what kind of Cam is he?) before we would get to AJM.

I like QB's with atleast a little mobility and Mett has zero
This is false...he CAN run just prefers not to. AJ doesn't either for that matter.
I never thought AJ had any mobility either, then I saw him scrambling around in the NC game, and I was shocked to see him actually avoid a few LSU defenders.

Ho Lee Phuck.

Offer me a guy who passed for 4,718 yards and threw 38 touchdowns. I'll take that.

Offer me a guy who passed for 2,634 yards and 16 touchdowns and I believe I'll stick with what we've got.

That shite is like saying comparing 2007 Graham Harrell (5,705, 48TD) to 2009 Jordan Jefferson(2,166 yards 17TD). '09 JJ and '11 AJ numbers are quite similar. Would any Alabama fan wish they'd had Jordan Jefferson on their team after '09?
