This is a new year with mostly unknowns at qb. We hope Met is the second comming of Andrew Luck, but we don't know. Chances are Aj will not get Bama beat, but can he win a close game in the 4th qt without #3 in the back field?
Wish the answers would hurry up and get here...

I just looked at Mettenburger's highlights from the spring game, and damn he bird dogs receivers like a motherfricker. Should be interesting to see if he fixes that.

Jefferson did it twice as bad, and he was still able to rip your defense for a 75 yard touchdown in 2010 and manage to throw hardly any picks

So yes, it will be interesting

Sorry to piss on your parade, brah, but it aint 2010. Weird that you brought up the 2010 Bama game/JJ, too. You are the only one talking about that.

So you're saying that the bama defensive backfield of 2012 will be much improved from the 2010 version?

Really? He was a sophmore in his first year starting at QB. His very first road test was among 80,000+ Penn State fans and he played very well. He went on the road in the swamp and played well. Everyone was praising Vandy secondary and how they were leading the country in interceptions. AJ threw 4 TD's and no picks in that game.

Tennessee sold out against the run and stopped Trent. AJ came out in the second half and destroyed them.

He played in the BCSNC game and won MVP. He played against a very good defense and he didn't blink.

Yeah he would totally crack if down in the 4th quarter without Richardson.

This question is too hard to answer. The logical answer has to be no. AJ just won a NC. Mett has yet to win anything. If you remember, Brantley got lots of hype at Florida but turned out to be average at best. Hype=0. Wins=Answers. So just have to wait. Mett could very well end up being as good as AJ or even better. Is AJ good? Yeah. A superstar? No. He has a championship ring though so I'm by his side all the way. He's proven. I hope Mett turns out to be as good as all the hype says. Would make the LSU Alabama game much more exciting.

I think so.

A junior Dee Milliner will be much better than a true freshman Dee Milliner.

A senior Robert Lester with two years starting experience will be better than a sophmore Lester.

A healthy Deion Belue who Saban has praised all spring will be better than a injured Dequan Menzie

A sophmore 5 star #1 safety Ha Ha Clinton Dix coming on the field in certain packages will be better than a walk on Will Lowery.

Thats not even getting into John Fulton, Travell Dixon, Landon Collins, and Geno Smith.

This is a tough question for people to really grasp IMO... My 100% non-homer UNbiased answer is AJ without a doubt. Mett is unproven, you can talk potential all you want but AJ has just as much potential at 6'4 215lbs. Mett will not have the mobility of AJ either (neither are great). He has not been the field general of a National Championship winning team (not flaming). Mett could be a beast but i've got to take a "for sure" 7 over a "could be" 9. JMO.. It's like when your school signs a new 5* recruit, a lot of times we go crazy and automatically think this person will step in and walk into a starting role and (most of the time) that is just not the case. Experience is huge in college, especially at the QB position.

Since EA football can't judge experience, most of the Rantards fail to understand the importance of experience, especially at QB.

I think it will be better, yeah. And its not like the 75 yard pass was an exposure of our secondary. It was a blown coverage by our best DB, Mark Barron, and it was probably Jefferson's best pass he ever had while at LSU.

AJ has a ring?!?

He also had quite possibly the greatest defense ever.

Well, why don't we wait and let him start before we decide who's better. Mett could very well be better than AJ.
