is there any reason that would
make sense to anyone in this world why McMahon wasn’t fired? What do we not know?

If Matt McMahon is bought out this year it'll cost $7.5 Million, $6.1 Million in the 2025-26 season, in 2026-27 it'll cost $4.65 million, and in 2027-28 it'll cost $3.15 million.

If the new Coach wants his own fully new staff the Tigers will need to buy out the old staff and pay a new staff.

This is one idea tossed around.
Another has been that the NIL was underfunded, so they would be giving him a shot with more capable players. Which seems to be philosophically dumb, but who knows.

LSU baws prioritize football and baseball. Paying that buyout means they can't buy the best portal guys in those sports.

Woodward torpedoed the program with his contract

Used to love the WW days, now we are stuck with McMorgue and will be bottom of the SEC

Not a McMahon fan at all.

But… when Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas were spending over $8 million for their rosters, and the mid range for roster spending in the SEC in basketball this year was $5 million, and LSU only spent $1.5 million on theirs, what do you expect??

I assure you UF didn’t spend 8 million on there basketball roster. We barely spent that on the football roster. Whoever is feeding you those figures is full of shite. At least for UF.

Buyout too high. Haven’t invested in program to attract anyone. So give him 1 more year. Ramp up nil money. So he either does better or he fails and the job looks a bit more attractive to another coach.

The schools can’t pay players. Are you saying LSU is breaking NIL rules?

Schools can now facilitate deals. “Hey Walter Clayton” this is the CEO of Gatorade, just wanted y’all to meet. Don’t be dumb.

We are just sandbagging. He is a great coach and his system doesn't work until year four.

But really no idea. He is killing LSU basketball and should be arrested for fraud. I've tried watching a couple of times but his teams severely lacks basic fundamentals. And he shows no emotion on the sidelines.

Our athletic department blamed the struggles on a weak NIL for basketball, which anyone who watches the program knows the problems are more than simply buying better players.

I thought we were full of shite but LSU has made some noise early on with the transfer portal. I guess LSU actually has a much larger NIL budget because it has to be expensive to convince kids to come to LSU with his records

Personally I don’t think he’ll win anything of note but we’ll see I guess

He was great at Murray State. I doubt he just forget how to coach or run a program.

I agree with this, but brother, there is something clearly off with that program. There is no way on earth LSU should be that bad.

He’s trying to teach them to use the drop linebacker concept that takes 4 years to understand.

That’s what many of us have pointed out on tRant. But, they believe it despite evidence and logic.
It’s just a convenient excuse so Woodward didn’t have to admit his hiring mistake. Especially when Wade was still available at McNeese and he was still fresh in the fans’ minds.

No troll, our AD is a pretentious dick and would rather not admit he’s wrong. It’s a terrible choice and embarrassing. Even worse is the fact that the local media and a portion of our fan base tries to make excuses for the vomitous product that Matt McBoring puts on the court!
