As of right now there is no clear definition of what a “professional athlete” is due to NIL and the grey areas involving the fact alumni who own businesses can “buy” players using NIL deals. He pushed the boundaries to challenge what is considered a pro player. If it hadn’t been him it was going to be someone else.

Both sides acted like assclowns. Also, there are no protections in contracts for coaches and teams when coaches get offers at the end of the season for other jobs right now.
