Or just something you guys do.

Have to admit its pretty cool that you guys wear the same jersey home/ away. Fits nicely with the whole "we do things a little different down here" vibe at LSU

article: The history of LSU’s famous white jerseys

quote:

“5) LSU Tigers always wear white football jerseys at both home and away games, bending the NCAA rule that requires home teams to dress in color, with the visiting team in white.” Battling NCAA for right to wear white

It’s hot down here, so we choose to wear white instead of dark purple

Geez, man. The Bama-beating-on-LSU thing is starting to annoy even me. It really does start to look like worry.

Because honestly the purple ones are just ugly, so we try to wear them as little as possible. Except when we wear them with white helmets/pants. Which we’re wearing this Sat. Those look sick.

I like the tradition, but the purple jerseys are sharp and should be worn more often.

They looked sharp last year vs. Troy.

I wasn't asking about all the other teams. I was asking about LSU. Thanks for your valuable input.

That's what the team is wearing against NW State this weekend.

I think an ancillary question is to explain the ritual of the #18 jersey. Is it always a defensive guy to be awarded the jersey? Is that the team captain? Who was the original #18?

Matt Mauck started this trend with the 18 jersey when he asked Jacob Hester to wear it (the same number Mauck wore). Since then, it has gone to the tiger (or two tigers in 2017 and 2019) who can be described as having tremendous character, being selfless, and having success on and off the field.

LSU didn't wear purple against Troy last season?

My mistake.

ETA, my bad. That was two years ago.

GIVE ME ALL THE DOWN VOTES!
