Not really, LSU wearing white & the Dallas Cowboys wearing white at home & away has always been very unique to ole school football fanatics. Both teams look better in white too, especially the Tigers.

Has any visiting team accidentally shown up in their typical road whites?

Not by accident. Vanderbilt forced the issue in 96 or 97 because LSU hired DiNardo and they were pissed. SEC relaxed the rules after that letting the home team choose for SEC games only. Non-Conf the visiting team still has to agree. Only Oregon State forced us to wear purple due to them not wanting to wear black in the Louisiana heat.

Spurrier forced us to wear purple on the road twice and so did Miss St.

Vanderbilt is forcing us to wear purple on the road this week so they don't have to wear black for an 11AM kickoff that will be hot as balls.

I think an ancillary question is to explain the ritual of the #18 jersey.

18 was an underground “tradition” started by Matt Mauck. It was supposed to go to the best/toughest/most bad arse white guy on the team. Like a&m’s 12 but for good players.

As with all things marketable, LSU cheesed it up within 30 seconds of hearing of it, and now it goes to almost anybody. Gave it to two guys this year! Tradition!

Are you a player on the team who is pissed they didn't award you the 18 or something? Chill out guy I think every player who has worn 18 for us has been deserving.

LSU- is there an interesting story behind the white jerseys?

I like the tradition, but the purple jerseys are sharp and should be worn more often.

They looked sharp last year vs. Troy.

We didn't play Troy last year Einstein.

It has gone to the player (ANY player) who the rest of the team votes on, including coaches.

Wonder how the melt would be if Bama forced L8U to wear purple this year?

It cracks me up how some of you Bama tards are completely incapable of just having a normal discussion without screaming about Bama

As melt worthy as that would be, Saban wouldn't do that to LSU. He's big time against 'rat poison' or bulletin board material.

The “tradition” didn’t start with players voting on 18 randomly lol

I always heard that the white jerseys are just a bit cheaper than the blue & yellow.
